i dont see why not. can't minis be used for other commercial purposes?
Using such a hi cost per mile vehicle due to the high maintenance costs would be crazy IMO....
Let's face it...
If you are going to operate a vehicle of any type and try to make a profit, choosing the right vehicle is of the greatest importance...and a vehicle with high upfront costs, high maintenance costs, and high replacement costs with fairly short life means your actual profit from driving will be VERY low...

I have, I signed up as a driver with Uber in my CMS only a couple months ago, but I have a normal full time job and really don't do it as a primary source of income. Drove over a couple holiday weekends and make around $200 in a single tank of gas for a little extra spending money. That's about as far as I will ever go with it. On a side note nearly everyone I pick up comments on how they like the car.
Now that I think of it, I have yet to actually see or get picked up in a MINI when using Uber here in California. I use it often too. I actually heard Uber is going to be changing their rules about the minimum year your car can be in order to be a driver. Heard by August 28th your car has to be '12 or newer. Thought that was interesting.

Newer cars is ONE way they set themselves apoart from the typical taxi company, many of which are STILL using 20+ year old crown-vic's or ratted out minivans...when some cities have forced taxi's to switch to hybrids like in Boston, so the Toyota Camry hybird is now the most common taxi in my closest "big" city, but local town's still have rolling junk painted yellow....

I was thinking about doing it for a little and they said the rule was year 2000 and newer, but they've been having too many issues where cars are breaking down. They're axing that issue by only allowing 2012+ cars for drivers. There is something about getting picked up in a brand new car that smells like it just rolled off the lot.

I just leased a 2015 Scion XB for this purpose and to have a reliable daily. I'm only averaging about 25mpg, but as said prior, i haven't seen anyone using a mini, nor do I think it would be wise to do so being how costly they are to maintain (my boat right now).
Anyways, I would highly suggest getting a roomy hybrid of some sort to maximize your profit doing so.
