nEED SUGGESTION FOR A NON RUN FLAT TIRE

Hi,
I have a 2013 Countryman (non ALL non S) just regular.
My tire size is currently 205/55R17. My front tires need to be replaces with only 29k on them. They are run flats. I never had run flats before and hate them. I would like to get non run flats but not sure what are the best ones to get. I heard you can't put to nonrun flats and to run flats on at the same time. So either I go with two more run flats and in a year or two replace all 4 with non run flats or replace all of them now. I have never had to replace tires this fast. Any suggestion would be great.
Thanks,
Marina

The best tire to get depends on what you expect from your tires. They are all a compromise between price, rolling resistance (mpg), handling(grip when accelerating, braking, and cornering), wear, "MINI go-kart feeling," noise, suitable weather, and more. TireRack.com is an excellent place to learn about and choose appropriate tires. Search on 225/50-17 for far more choices. Pay attention to load and speed ratings per your owner's manual.

Whenever you do get four new tires you can wear them all out at the same time by regularly rotating them front to rear.

^ I agree, go to tirerack.com and select a price range, figure out whats important to you, compare tires and read reviews. Pay attention to where the reviewer lives, miles on tires and vehicle mounted on.

I have 19's so not nearly as many options. I ended up with Falken all weathers. They will get first rotation in a coup,e of weeks but they have been great in the heavy water on the road in the big summer thunderstorms.

I'm running Continental Extreme Contact DWS 225/50 ZR17 and they rock. Amazing transformation in ride quality, only a very slight dip in go-cartiness.

Get a slime repair kit (plugs and a good pump). I added the following to my kit:

needle nose pliers
headlamp
box cutter
multi-screwdriver (switchable bits)
small adjustable wrench
multitool

I have the Mini jack kit. Not sure if that was standard or an option.

I also added towing coverage to my auto policy. Tow is probably my first option for flats, if I'm in a hurry or towing isn't available, self-repair is my fallback.

I repaired a flat on my wife's car using a plug for the first time last month, it was impressively simple and fast. The flat was found in the garage in the morning. I have never flatted out on the road (knock on wood).

Thanks,

What brand of tires does your car come with? Runflat does not make the tire wear faster. The advantage of non-runflats is that you have more tire choices but you are giving up the extra layer of safety.

Selection is not the primary advantage of non-RFs, ride quality is.

I went with the Pirelli P7 A/S Plus 215 55 17. These are the non run flats version. Ride feels great compared to the runflats.
