R60 squealing brakes
squealing brakes
Anyone else having squealing brakes when coming to a stop in this cold weather? This has been going on for about a month. I brought it in to be serviced but the dealer says everything checks out and it's just the nature of the high performance brakes. Any suggestions out there on what I can do. I really love my Countryman All4 S (2013) but the noise is driving me crazy.

My 2013 Countryman S All 4 with a little over 3,000 miles does this when I first take off in the morning. The noise goes away within a few seconds.

Yes when cold. Usually after the first stop the pads warm up and it stops. Not just Mini's either. My Chevy truck does it sometimes too. Just the cold.
Also just googled it... Apparently it has to do with the metal content in the pads and squeal when cold is good because it means there harder pads and will last longer than not queaky ones.
"Have a compact car? A high-pitched squeal often happens on smaller cars and is heard in the first few stops when brakes are cold and damp. Certain brands can be noisier than others, but there's an upside - these harder pads that have more metal generally last longer since they're stronger."
