Rpm not go pass 4000

I believe my Mini Cooper S Countryman 2012 seems to have a problem. When I press on the gas while on park, the rpm does not go pass 4000. I was wondering if this is a problem or not? If so, what can be done to get it fixed?

Seems like your car may be trying to save itself from needless abuse. I think they all do this.

Why do you need to rev PAST 4000rpm in park? Seems pointless to me.

Big question does it go past 4k when not in park?

I will not be trying mine in park. But it loves over 4k when not in park.

I am not going to needlessly rev my engine, but why would 4,000rpm in park be any more detrimental than 4,000rpm at 60mph? As long as you don't hold it there for 10min, it won't overheat.

Revving to 4k RPM's probably won't hurt anything but I don't advise it unless your car is thoroughly warmed up.

The load on an engine is like a flywheel It smooths out the vibrations.
