Sport button

I'm sure I already know this answer but is it at all possible to get the steering of sport mode without the aggressive shift tuning of the auto. I want sport mode steering all the time but rarely ever want the shift tuning. Is there any way to make it happen? Or at the very lease make the auto trans stay in 6th instead of constantly shifting to 5th?

You could put it in manual shift mode and shift it at the points you prefer. Probably still not ideal for you since it changes the shift points and the throttle mapping. Don't think there is a way to "reprogram" Sport mode to behave differently or to change the default steering effort to "sport."

Have you tried pushing the button half-way in?

Sealy - Who, knowing BMW electronics, would not be suprised if it worked.

Come on now, don't be silly. You need to twist the button like a steering wheel.

HAHA! That would be so awesome if that were the case. I hate driving at 60mph and put it in 6th with the steering wheel paddles and the damn thing downshift back down to 5th just cause it's in sport mode. Drives me crazy.

I wish 'sport mode' would shift into 6th.

A few people on here have said it eventually does if you go fast enough. I've never confirmed since the auto is my wife's.

Yeah it eventually will once you get above 60. Thats about the only time I use it. On the interstate so that the steering isnt so sensitive and it doesnt downshift to 5th at that speed.
