I will post part numbers later if anyone needs them and I will let you know how the install goes. The difference for the armrest is that there needs to be a little hole in the plastic for the base of the armrest.

Success! Very easy to do. Took me a little time since I had to figure what goes in what order but very easy to do nonetheless. Not to mention, the cigarette lighter was easier to swap this time. Everything fits perfect. Sorry for the crappy picture, it's the best I could get right now at night. If I have time this weekend, I will post a write up. The only special tools you need are a credit card (or any card for that matter), T20 Torx bit and a 13mm socket. Should I post a write up on this thread or start another one?

Thumbs up Rear Countryman Cup Holders

Thank you for everyone's interest in the rear cup holders!

We do have another batch on the way from Germany. We are hopeful that they will arrive within the next few weeks, although that could change based on demand from other dealers.

The kits are located here (Make sure you are logged in for the correct price!):

Anyone still searching for the larger front cup holders (Pictures coming soon):

Once again, thank you!
Please contact us with any questions.

Does anyone know if the Mini Ash Tray/Storage Bin (5116 99804425-02) that comes with the Countryman (at least mine which is a 2012) fits in the bigger cup holders?

Also, I have the full rail. Are these larger cup holder available for the rail mount (for the back seat)?

The ash tray does fit. It is not as snug but it's not going to fall out either. The little rubber pieces hold it pretty well. On that note, the newer Countrymans come with the same ashtray but have a separate little silver ring that goes around it to make up the size difference in the cup holders. It isn't really needed though. Mine has been working just fine.

The larger cup holders in the back are only available for CM with split rail or bench seat. Otherwise, they just have the rail accessory cup holder.

The larger rail mounted cup holders are part number 51169811183 and are item number 14 in this diagram:

Hello. New to the forum, and to Mini. I recently purchased a 2011 Countryman. Should this modification work for a 2011?

Talking oooops

posted this in the "what did you do to your CM today " already I forgot about this thread but ya I finally got mine and installed them ..it was very easy and IMO a very necessary modification! I definitely recommend getting them. I bought mine from Sewell received them 2 day shipping and around 20 min to install.

Thumbs up bmrguy03 - thank you for the post.

I saw this post last night and at 8:30am this morning I was talking to the mini dealer here in Charlotte, NC ordering the parts for the mod. I think mini is on to the fact that the modification is relatively easy because the total for all 4 parts for me was $108.00. Parts are coming from Jacksonville, FL so I'll have them on Weds. Very cool.

Anyone ever bust a hole in a styrofoam coffee cup trying to put it in the '12 cup holder? Not very fun. Anyway, bmrguy03, thanks again for the post.

-Mark.

Yes, got my bigger cup holders installed in my 2012. To easy. Automatic with mini connected. One screw at rail, 2 screws in cup holder, remove shift ring, unclip boot, disconnect cig lighter, disconnect two aux ports and one main port, lift consul out, 4 screws to undo joystick and buttons then screw on to new consul, aux port connector unclips and clips right on the new one, same for cig lighter, that's Prolly the toughest one. Now put on the new consul reconnect aux connections and lighter, clip on boot, screw into place. Here's a money saver - the shifter ring from old does fit the new one. Easy.... I did get the parts from my mini dealer for around $60, i know it was a lil cheaper then Sewell, but the rear cup holders are more if i go through dealer, ill go Sewell for those...

Sorry I've been lagging and I'm sorry, but does anyone really need me to post a write up for the rear Cupholders? I actually find them easier than the front ones. If so, I will try to knock it out this weekend. Let me know, thanks!

And yeah, I do think the reason I need a bigger cup holder would actually be a pretty good reason to post why I need a bigger cup holder in a thread about bigger cup holders. Other then saying "Yeah I'm just another fat American who wants a large milkshake holder".
You nailed him and he can't take it. Nice job. Just to add my $.02 worth; I'm 5'11" and weigh 155 pounds and I, too, find the smaller cup holders to be inadequate. Another thing, for a Brit, it's funny that he can't even get "your" and you're correct despite laying claim to the "mother tongue." Ha ha, lol.

The lack of correct spelling and grammar is a very common occurance here in the UK, especially amongst modern kids. Don't judge us all on one persons views. I'm quite happy to have cup holders replaced with buckets. Who cares what people consume or how they live their lives.

I realize this is a fairly old post, but just thought I'd throw in two cents and thank you again for the information and the writeup, just did this today on my wife's "new" 2012 Countryman, and quite excited! Sometimes it's the little things that make the big difference.

Glad I stumbled upon this thread, I just picked up a 2011, and the cup holders are pretty bad. I have to force cups down into them, and I know they're going to puncture or fall out one day.

My S is a manual, and I do not have Connected or Nav. It sounds like I can skip the ring, and just get the panel and inserts. Is this correct?

Center Trim Panel (51-16-9-811-185) ~ $32
2x Cup Holder Rubber Inserts (51-16-9-811-184) ~ $8 each

NOT REQUIRED: Shifter Trim Ring (51-16-9-810-002) ~ $17
