Unhappy Problem using key to close windows?

I know there is the trick to use the key & key fob to open and close the windows (& sunroof).

I can open the windows/roof using the fob (holding down the unlock button).

However, no matter how much I try, I cannot get them to then close by turning the (hidden) metal key in the lock.

Anyone else have this problem? Any hints on getting it to work?

I don't think this is supposed to work in reverse. i.e close the windows. Need to check the owners manual later today.

You would have to code the computer to close the windows/sunroof with the fob. It doesn't come that way. Check the electrical section on coding.

I have seen that you should be able to do it with the metal key in the lock, without having to program the fob. Guess not. :(

My 08 Clubbie has comfort access. If I hold the little black button on the door handle down after locking is complete it puts the windows up and closes the sunroof.

No comfort access here.

I guess I can try to find someone who can code the fob when I move back to the state (MD) later this year.

I can close my windows in my 2012 CM by turning the key in the door without any special programming. I do have comfort access, but every MINI I've had since 2004 has worked the same way.

Is there some trick to it I am not getting?

I can get the key to lock/unlock the door, but when I hold it turned, nothing happens.

My 2012 cms does not do this. Just tried it.
I can put the windows downs with the unlock button. The manual says you have to put put the key fob in and use the toggles to close the windows.

My 2012 does it. Just have to twist and hold the key for about 5 seconds for it to start the process. And yes I have the comfort access not that it should make a difference.

Got my car coded by Triple_O Coding. I can put windows down or up with the key fob now. Not sure about the sunroof. I'll ask about that when I talk to him today. (Or you can PM him directly; he is a member here.) I do have one-touch sunroof, though, which is pretty awesome.

I highly recommend Okee (Triple_O Coding). He's very courteous and very good at what he does.

Yes. NCS Expert coding can enable the key fob close of all windows and sunroof. While you're at it, enable the Weather Radio feature!

the comfort access close of the windows is something all MINIs are capable of and its just a couple of keystrokes in the dealers system to activate it on your car.

However, they wont do it at most dealers because it is not US Spec due to Insuracne and government concerns of people being closed in the window if you use it remotely and dont see them.

if you know a dealer that will do it thats great maybe i can get mine there and get it done.
