Aux input keeps popping out....

I have a new 2012 Countryman and have the USB/Aux In cable etc. for iPhone/iPod. The auxiliary input plug does not seem to seat (click) into place into the female connector and creates static, intermittent and some times complete loss of sound. I tried another auxiliary input cable and it too does not seem to seat in the connector.

Has anyone else seen any issues with this connection? I have seen threads on ground loop issues, but nothing in respect to a problem with the plug not seating and being loose.

Thanks!

when I first started using mine it didnt want to stay in, kept only getting half of the sound, so I forced it all the way in and have not had a problem since. It did take a good bit of force to get it all the way seated though

Sacrilege to say this about MINI/BMW, but they use cheap parts wherever they think they can get away with it. My plug occasionly goes south and needs to be adjusted. Has done so for over a year, but it's not to the point where I want to deal with service to get it replaced. (With another cheap plug.) If yours is bad enough, that's the route you need to take.

hmm.. were you getting half of the sounds or half of the volume ? when running things through my aux jack the volume is very low. i thought this may have been some kind of failsafe quirk (incase the volume level was high on your device you wouldn't get blasted).

Low volume, "flat" sound quality, missing speakers, cutting out, static, etc. All symptoms of a mini-plug that's no longer doing its job. If it's bad enough, nothing to do but ask for a replacement.

Oddly, I just got my CM yesterday and I'm having a problem with the aux jack and sound quality. I haven't had a chance to see if it's the included cable or the jack, but it's interesting to hear that this may be a common issue (and it also increases the possibility of it being the jack which is normally not the case in these sorts of things, and the more annoying of the two options to fix).

I have a few other cables I can try today, so I'll know soon. It definitely didn't sound 'right', and got either worse or slightly better depending on how you jiggle it. Haven't had a chance to play with much yet. I've only even driven it 30 blocks!

OffAxis - you were right! Pushed it with some force and sure enough it clicked into place and all is well......

Thanks!

I have a 2012 w/o connected and the standard radio. I have always had a problem with the aux jack, no matter what cable I try or how hard I push to seat it -- it's just loose. I would really like to use my phone to play music vs continuing to pay for sat radio, but the loose jack presents a serious hurdle, especially since there is no USB plug.

Has anyone successfully hardwired a line out?
Thank you,

I had the same issue with my 2011 CM S. It's an issue warranty will take care off. There is actually a service bulletin about the issue..

The car is out of warranty. When I called the dealer this morning to get an estimate to fix it, they would not give me one saying they would not know until they pulled it apart to see it and the price could range from $150 to $500 to fix. So back to my original question: has anyone resolved this problem themselves???

The only way to fix it is to buy a new combo aux usb jack . MINI has revised the part so the new one should have less problems . The replacement is fairly easy, it's the same process as replacing the front cup holders

As you can see there is an SIB for the part so it is an issue. If your out of warranty just order the part an replace it yourself!

Crazy. I had the same problem with my 2012 plug so I bought a new one. The new one was just as bad. I just figured it was a problem with that part. Do you have a link to the service bulliten or know how I can find it? Maybe a bulliten number? Thanks.

Do you have a link for a video on how to replace it? I have a 2014 R60 and I want to try to do it myself.
