A yelllow symbol appeared today along with the gong sound

It looked like a window with an exclamation mark next to it.

I couldn't locate this symbol un the manual. Anybody know what it is?

I had such a warning on a BMW (all these warning icons are the same on MINI's as on BMW's.) Im my case it was a frameless window car and the feature that dropped the window a franction of an inch when opening the door and raised it again on close for a proper seal stopped working on one of the doors.

The fix was easy. I had to locate the door with the window that stopped working (easy, it was the driver's door) and hold the window switch either up or down for 1 seconds or so at which point the system automatically started to re initialize the window by having go through a full down and up cycle. I had to let go through a full cycle or else the message stays.

I am unable to try it on the CM because I am out on a business trip, but I am fairly certain the same procedure would apply. It may be worth a try.

It was a yellow icon, it looked like the window symbol that is displayed above your front window switches with an exclamation mark next to it.

I googled "countryman window warning light" and found comments on it, but no picture or official explanation on what it is. I would include the link, but since it links to another mini forum I wasn't sure if that was allowed.

window light

Just had the same issue, driving along and a picture of a window popped on.
Parked the car and it went away, taking car in for a tint issue and intend on getting a answer from tech. Will pass on any info.
ps just turned over 1k miles when this happened.

I just got this warning today. The car has 2K miles, and I was cruising on the highway in light rain. I rolled all the windows down and back up, and it went away for the rest of the drive (2 hrs).

I guess if it happens again, I'll take it to the dealer. I checked the owners manual and this warning is not listed.

Another odd thing, not sure if it's related or not, I've previously noticed that when I roll the drivers window with the auto up, sometimes it goes all the way up and then rolls half way back down. I'm thinking the car thinks something is obstructing the window and goes back down for safety reasons?

I snapped a pic of the window warning with my phone.

Yep. It's the obstruction sensor. A reinitialization usually helps to fix that, but if it doesn't, then you can use GT1 or Autologic to reset the window modules. If that still doesn't fix it, the sensor needs to be replaced.

I had this just show up the other day. I love how it's not in the manual too. The night before this appeared I had a weird issue where my neighbor told me my hazard lights had been going off for a few hours late at night and wanted to see if everything was ok. Checking things out we noticed a small puddle in the driver side footwell. It was a stormy rainy night and we could not figure out what was going on. It was like somebody was in the car and turned the lights on! Driving to work the next morning I got that window alert, but nothing seemed off about the windows. Then, after having been at work an hour or so a co-worker came over to tell me I left my lights on. I didn't, my lights were off, but my rear brake lights were all lit up, third brake light and all. I couldn't figure out how to get them to turn off so I ended up bringing it in for service. They called me later in the day to tell me that the sunroof was leaking somehow. Apparently the drainage channel or something had become clogged causing water to go where it shouldn't. This ran down my door and into the footwell. In its travels the water came in contact with various modules like the window module and rear light module eventually frying them. They seem to know exactly what the problem is so hopefully they can fix it all, but I'm nervous this is only the beginning of some never-ending electrical issues now... They're keeping my car a few days to remove the seat and carpet to make sure it's dry and no mold starts growing which I thought was rather thorough of them, but obviously I would have preferred to have never had this problem in the first place.
