What is This?

What is this "nub" sticking out of the floor by the left end of our rear bench seat? There's a similar one by the right end of the seat too. I thought it might be a some sort of a cargo tie down, but I don't see any mention of it in the owners manual.

If you take off the plastic cover you'll find eyes that can be used for tie-downs. I got a ratchet strap at Harbor Freight and run it from tie-down to tie-down over the laid-down back seats, running it over the headrest supports to pull
the seats down to a flatter position for hauling stuff. I throw a moving blanket over the back and it works great for quickie cargo conversion.

Thanks! That's what I thought they are, but the covers are what confused me because they don't readily come off. I tried pulling them off again just now, and they are not coming off. I'm concerned that I'm going to break the covers. Do I need to twist them as I pull?

While moving a futon sofa, I also found that if your tie-down strap goes over a heavy object positioned on top of the folded down seat backs, you can go diagonally from the pictured tie-down points to the tie-downs near the corners of the tailgate opening. The load is very secure and does not shift. In the case of the futon mattress, it also nicely compressed it so I could easily see out the rear window!

You might try prying it up with a screwdriver tip; working under the bottom lip a little at a time.

Thanks, as silly as it sounds, I'm still struggling with both of them. Is the part that goes flat against the carpet part of the cover, or not? One would think the cover would pull off in with little trouble.

From your photo, the flat part at the bottom of the plastic cover that rests against the carpet appears to be part of the cover.

I assume there was no "rear tie-down delete kit" option available for the Countryman.

Problem solved! I was assuming the flat part was the tie down itself versus the cover. Thanks everyone and have a great weekend!

In my case, it's also for the factory cargo net option. I guess I could also call this the anti-child throw option.

FACTORY CARGO NET OPTION! Never heard or seen this before. How did you find out about this? Is there a secret countryman option catalog I'm missing? I have seen a cargo net for the back, but never seen one for behind the front seats. This could keep my crazy dog in the back. I think he wants to drive

My dealer had never heard of this before either. He found the part in the trunk and said, "What's this?" So he checked and sure enough it was the "cargo net" listed on the window sticker.

Here are some good pics of someone else's net https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-net-pics.html.

I like the idea of this barrier - but the option apparently includes the circular attachment points forward of the rear handholds above the door - not present on my CM4!

I noticed it in the configurator but the picture made it look more like a boot tie-down than something to keep stuff from sliding forward with the seats down. Either way, it wasn't something that would make me part with the $250 they want for it.
