Hail damage

Our parking lot at work got pelted by a hailstorm yesterday, and my CM ended up with six small, shallow dings. Here's what makes it complicated: last June a major storm with baseball-sized hail hit our home, and our roof was damaged. The adjuster wanted to just "repair" the roof instead of replacing it because the damage was sparse and distributed, but we appealed and our agent really advocated for us. It was finally settled just last week, and we're getting a new roof at a cost to Progressive of $36,000! Progressive also insures our cars.
So how do you repair those really shallow dings that you have to get down low just to see? Is it expensive? I'm thinking I may need to eat the cost myself rather than filing a claim.
I've used the glue-gun do-it-yourself ding pullers, but these are too subtle to do myself.

A good paintless dent removal guy can work those out with no problem. Most are resourceful enough to get behind just about any ding. My guy charges about $70 for an hour's work (but SF Bay area is more expensive than most). You should be able to get it done for less than $400-$500.

I've had about 7 dings taken out of three cars and the results have always been perfection. I even had him take a dent out of the top of my brand new washing machine after I bashed it. Maybe someone can recommend a guy in your area.

+1 on PDR. They really do amazing things.
That being said they are probably going to be busy over the next few weeks since a lot of people in your area will need to have hail dents removed. Wait 2 or 3 weeks if you can stand it and you will not get a rush job.
You may also have more dents than you can see. The only way to see it all is to have a clean car and shine a light against the panels. Roof or no roof, Progressive has to fix your hail damage and they will use a PDR service anyway. Since it's a comp loss and you're not at fault, it should not affect your rates.

I feel your pain.... My 4Runner got pelted when a tornado moved through with 2" hail... I went for the insurance payout as the vehicle is older, and a new roof for the home. I just call it a Colorado Hand Shake to the state. Despite the dents, she is still a clean looking drive.

Hail damage resolved!

Ok, Randy from Randy's Paintless Dent Removal (Central Indiana) showed up at my home at 7am today and went to work on making what turned out to be seven small dings disappear from my CM.
What a value! He spent two hours on my car - at my home - and my cost was $125. I will never put up with a ding again. I had no idea repair could be this good or this reasonable. There are no signs of the damage whatsoever!

Adding Randy to my mental rolodex in case I ever need a de-ding. Thank you!
