R60 Software Update
Software Update
Does anyone know if the 2011 Countryman S has had a recent software update? Someone here mentioned theirs received one during the recent water pump recall installation.
It's only an ECU update. Doesn't have anything to do with the promise of upgrades that Connected and Nav buyers got. It fixes the stumble issue, the window roll down issue and limits the speed to 128mph. The problems with Connected and Nav are all still there.
Dang! I'm scheduled for this update in two weeks - I guess I'll have to live with this compromise - no stumbles, no gofast (sort of)
Are you guys sure about the top speed being limited to 128 mph on all CMS? when I read about it on MotoringFile it seemed that it was just for new CMS from a certain build date. It's not that I reach those speeds every day but it somehow bothers me that they're limiting my car.
I had the

software update applied to Fenton (2011) about a week ago. Before I went in for his first service I had emailed an inquiry about the stumbling problem. That qualified me for the upgrade. I scheduled the appointment and arranged for an MCS loaner (some updates have had to stay overnight per NAMers). The car was ready to go in the afternoon.
The good news:
Starting off the line is much smoother and it's much less likely that I'll stall it.
No repeat of stumbling with hard acceleration so far.
The bad news:
As with any update, you have to go through and re-establish your preferences for your key pod.
The first tank of gas showed 19 mpg. The second tank of gas showed 23 MPG, but according to gas ingested and miles driven it was 35 MPG. Each tank the calculated value goes up.
Based on my experience, I'd recommend anyone with a CM of a certain age go through this process and get the upgrade - there are benefits.
