Ordering Soon

I know I may have asked this before, but I like having all my research done.
We may be ordering my CM in the next few weeks and I'm wanting to know what deals anyone got. Costco or anything that might be available to me now. My husband has been emailing dealerships asking for prices and what deals can be given without much luck. What's the best deal anyone has gotten?

We talked to a woman from Costco and she said the nearest dealer to us that would give us the discount would be in El Paso, that's a full day's drive away form us. Those who got the Costco discount, were you able to go to any dealership?

And anyone with the cloth/leather seats who is happy with their choice?

I'm super pumped about getting a new car! And a Mini at that! My first car was just because it was affordable. And now I've got the chance to get exactly what I want, and I'm pretty stoked.

Thanks aznqtboy984, Momentum of Houston has that deal also. But it doesn't apply unless you're financing through Mini. Which we aren't. Our bank offered a better finance deal.

Quick question for you though. Do you love your checkered sunroof? Does it offer any sun/heat protection?

Try truecar.com and spec out your mini. Most dealers won't budge but if you get another dealer involved positions change. Stay firm and focused.

We're also 30 and 33 years old and look about 5 years younger, so we're having problems with the dealers taking us seriously. It's so aggravating. Either you want my business or you don't, but we're not in it to play games.
My husband will be checking a couple dealerships today to see if he can get a good deal. IF he can, he may go ahead and order for me.
He gets the day off and gets to have fun.

Sounds like you're in Houston. I've bought MINI's at all three dealers here in town now, first one in 2005. Momentum doesn't like to budge...but I think they might a little now that there's more competition. My MINI of the Woodlands experiences were good but they're really far away for me. My last one (and newest) came from Clear Lake. When they first opened last year they were eager to please. Other than one service I haven't been there since so I don't know what they're like today, but I'd give them a chance. Still, don't expect "at invoice" pricing on MINI's like you can get on other brands. There is no holdback on MINI's and I think it's too early in the model year for much factory incentive (i.e. trunk money). MSRP is almost exactly 10% more than invoice on MINI's so price your car out and work from there.

Well, from my own experience, if you can find two more dealers that are close to each other, you can let them beat each other's price. Send emails or call them, do tell them that if you get a good enough price, you will make the order right away. They may want you to come in first to talk about the price, say no unless they give you a good deal.

I was able to get $2300 off MSRP when I used this trick to order my countryman. Hope it helps.

Hi-

I live in Sugar Land but made the trip to the Woodlands last Friday (my birthday )to place my order. I started at Momentum which is way closer to me but they would not meet or beat the offer I got at the Woodlands. Also, the people at the Woodlands were more friendly and jazzed about selling, demonstrating, and answering my questions about the Countryman...yes, it's way further but for great customer service and a better price I'll make the drive. Good luck!

These are all great tips guys! I really appreciate it. Momentum Mini seemed excited but also seem like they aren't really taking us seriously as any emails I have sent have gone unanswered. Maybe they're tired of me but I'm just trying to get the best Mini for the price. I want to have all my i's doted and t's crossed... They should understand that much.

I think you should let all the dealers you emailed know that you are a serious buyer and would make the order today if you get a good deal. That way they will treat you more seriously.

If you would go with this dealer, you may want to get a price that is better then MSRP from other dealers and let them beat each other, while letting them know you will make the order today or tomorrow.

I think you should let them know you are a serious buyer and will make the order in a day or two if you get a deal. And try to get a price better than MSRP in the email and let other dealers beat that, once the fight begins, you will more likely to get a good deal. Don't forget to let them know you will make the order today.

I agree with you totally. This is a big investment and they are there to sell cars! I had some unanswered emails there too. It was the opposite with the Woodlands though. Before even visiting I received a good quote, follow-up emails, confirmation visit emails, and post order follow-up emails.

Good Luck!

We haven't gotten many to budge at all. But now that we've got some examples of some real people who have gotten up to 2K, maybe now we have some wiggle room.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate it!

I have two dealers, who are equidistant from my home. I used the USAA car buying program, and one of the dealers was listed as a participant...but the other dealer actually honored the USAA price. I was thrilled, because that was my home state's only dealer, and I wanted to keep my money "local," if possible.

With that...I purchased my 2012 CMS ALL4 for $1050 over invoice (That included my $750 Motortober discount).

USAA's program is basically the same as Costco's, as far as I can tell.

I can't really help with the deals, I got mine through a military sales program; but I can vouch for the cloth/leather. I picked up my tobacco line bencher on Saturday and could not be happier. They seem to be good quality and were super comfy on the 7 hour drive home. They also look really nice, mostly black with some light brown stitching. I'm sure they'll be sturdy enough to stand up against my 3 year old.

The most we've been able to get is $1250, but my husband is unwilling to settle on that especially with truecar.com and so many of you reporting up to 2k.

I got lucky with two dealerships going back and fourth. My original deal was a truecar price of about $1000 off. So 1250 is a good price off.

I agree with dharvey. My purchase price was the USAA negotiated price PLUS the $750 Motortober discount. My timing was just right, to get more off of MSRP.

If I were buying today, I wouldn't hesitate to take the $1250.

I would talk to Keith at Mini of The Woodlands. Tell him Bill said to give you a deal. It may be worth something. I bought two from him and three from the dealership. I have the Cosmic Blue All4 with the Black Jack roof and mirrors.

Good Luck

i'm from the san francisco bay area, all i could manage was $500 off the msrp plus the $750 motortober discount so $1250. Costco only worked with the sacramento dealership which was $1000 off msrp but wouldnt be able to get my car by Jan 3rd ($750 expired on that day) so went with the mini dealership closer to me

Costco would only do $250 off for me. I got $1000 off for the rock/Rivals, and had them throw in the new stripes and labor for them. But I took adar off the lot that had been there a couple months
