Important TSB info

I just took my car in and since this is relative to many I will post it here before updating the threads in the Problems/Issues section.

1st off took it in on Saturday and after I left they called and said they could not work on it till they contacted Mini HQ as per a new policy. So had to wait till Monday for work to begin.

Problems: 1. Drivers window not going down all the way.
2. Engine sputter getting on the highway.
3. Oil spray in the engine compartment (small amount, noticed
in a few spots and dripping down the front bumper.

Solutions: 1. Oil spray was due to leaking oil pump solenoid. I have seen
several people post this problem, but some could not find
the cause.
2. Engine sputter and Window problem apparently have a
TSB that has to do with a Control Unit reprogram. Will have to
wait and see on the sputter (could also be the HPFP, as many
have had problems with them). The window issue was fixed
though.

I may have missed people reporting these fixes for these 3 somewhat common problems, but if you have one these fixes may help.

BTW...asked to see the TSB and they said it was an internal document?????
When I had my Infinity I could access all TSB's online to see what exactly they said.

I can't find anything in the NHTSA database for the Countryman of any type.

Yeah, I think most of these window issues are not motor related, but rather some bug in the control unit that needed to be found and reset. Up till a few
weeks ago I was still being told no fix had been found (except some that could be done with the window reset procedure). Mine was fixed through the computer somehow so maybe they know what the bug is now and this is the last we will hear of windows not going down all the way.

What year and such? For the 2008 Clubman S (for example) there are 19 TSBs.

I have friend of a friend that works at the Austin MINI dealership. He told me that at the start of summer that in a meeting that the sales manager told them "Don't roll down any of the windows on the MINI's till we get some cooler weather" I said "why did he say that" The guy told me that the "sales manager knows the problems with the MINI's windows". That should tell you right there that BMW knows there are problems with those and they should just find the problem and fix it.

Our 2008 MCS had the windshield crack this summer without any cause we could see. The service manager said it was due to something hitting the windshield and rolled her pen to the poing where she said it impacted. You can't see anything there other than there's now a larger pit there (vaguely suspicious), but it's been sitting in the driveway for four weeks minimum before it appeared one day. It happened the same day I rolled them down to "air it out." They want $900 to replace it ...

This is one thing I came across when looking to buying a Mini. I found that many complained of the windshield glass being too fragile. Maybe they tried to cut a few corners in the manufacture process.

Once again, just call me a dork.

You are right, I can't find the Countryman anywhere on their site. Guess that one really wasn't a TSB, but an internal document. Must be a "fix if they bring it in" type of document and they're trying to keep it from being a recall. My best guess.

Except they specifically told me it WAS a TSB.
I emailed the service mgr to try to get some more info on it. We'll see.......

Your insurance might cover it.

For how long did they keep your car to replace the solenoid? I'm going in for Service tomorrow morning and don't know if I should wait for it.
