My CMS has Arrived

After 6 weeks, my Countryman S is sitting at the dealership. Hopefully I will take delivery by Thursday. The salesman said it takes about a week to go through German customs because it is a U.S. Spec model. Attached are some photos of my Light white CM next to a Pure Red Euro Spec CM. The only differences I can see between the two are the reflecters above the front and back wheel wells. Also the tail lights seem to be a little different. The Euro spec does have a bench seat in the back and I must say after looking at it, I really dont care for it, it looks a little cheap to me. It just makes me glad I did not wait for the bench seat. I would suggest to people if they dont need the half seat in the middle dont get it. More pics to come after I get it home and washed. Cheers

Und, so, the weiB and schwarz movement comes to Germany. Ach, where will it end? Seriously, a nice looking CM, let us know how it does on the Auto Bahn.

Sealy - Who might have picked the one of the right.

Looks great. What made you get the US Spec vehicle? Are the engines the same or are there specific options Europeans can choose that mimic the US cars?

The one my wife and I ordered looks just like yours. We decided to go with the sports stripes instead of the regular stripes though. We ordered it early enough for it to beat us to Italy. We are PCSing the first week of August to Vicenza! Thankfully Pentagon Car Sales allowed us to order from the CONUS. I am hoping that the MINI dealer in Italy will swap out the tail lights and add all the bits to make the rear fog lights work.

I thought about ordering to pick up overseas somewhere, but just couldn't work out the timing of it... sounds like fun. Enjoy!

The tail lights between the two look almost the same, when I get the chance I will post a pic.

Mayer,

is it possible to give us (if you know of course) any details on the required jobs to make a US spec Countryman EU compliant?

PS. I also sent you a relevant private message

Thanks

I dont think I had to do anything special, because it was bought through MINI/BMW military sales. I wanted to be sure to get a U.S. Spec model, because I will be returning to the states after my tour is done here.

White is U.S Spec, Pure Red is Euro Spec. Not much differance between tail lights. I talked to the parts department about the euro spec fender molding that does not have the lights (yellow in the front, red and the back).
He priced it at 129 euro ($200) for all four(not including install). For that much money I will just keep the lights.

Doesn't the European Spec have a fog taillight in the left rear?

I'd say from the images that the US version has back-up lights and red turn signals and the Euro version has fog tail lights and yellow turn signals. Interesting.

mayer, Thanks for taking the time out to take the pictures. Going back to look at your CM just sitting their has got to be driving you crazy!

Exactly! The amber turn signals on the Euro models is another reason I want those tail lights! I hate red turn signals.
