iPhone 4 Snap in adapter

Does anyone know if the iPhone 4 adapter has been released or will be? Getting Connected with Nav and MA said I will need the snap in adapter for the arm rest, but can't find any info on the iPhone 4. I'd like to know if it's out, or when it will be, and if you can use an exterior case with it, as it would be a pain to remove the phone from the case every time it needs to be snapped into place.

Don't know if it's out yet, but based on pics of it you will not be able to use the case with it.

I guess, though, I could just plug into the iPod jack without using the armrest? If so, I hope the phone controls, etc will work, because now it's illegal to use hand-held phones in MD.

iphone4 adapter

picked my new countryman up xmas eve.
tried to get armrest iphone adapter but was given a 3g adapter.
did not work of cause. tech said that was the latest one.
seemed to my they could be more tech savvy.
he did not know when new one was available.
am using phone holder on the rail with a y connection which works fine but isn't too cool. nor does the phone fit very well in or out of the case.

Yeah, funny that they force you to buy an arm-rest, but then don't have an adapter for a six month old phone.

yeah, Let's hope it's that soon.

I must admit, as bad as my iphone synced with my 2010 mayfair, the same phone works fantastic in the countryman.

Less of a Countryman thing, and apologize for the forum necro, but does anyone have any updated info on the iPhone 4 Snap In Adapter?

Rumor mill now has the iPhone 5 due out in October 2011. My guess is the iPhone 4 MINI Connect snap in cradle with full function will be available on or about 10/31/11.

Sealy - Who really did not sign up to play trick or treat with MINI.

LOL…I know IOS5 is to be released next month..I do know the 5 phone's physical dimensions are changing as well. So if the right cradle is released…it probably won't accept the newer phone.

Akkkkkk, I forgot about that! That means BMW is going to have to start all over again. I guess we can expect a fully compatible MINI iPhone 4 cradle somewhere between half-past hell freezing over and quarter-to pigs flying.

Why are they making a cradle for a specific model? Seems stupid as things change too fast. They need a more flexible armrest solution. I hope this all gets worked out. I am getting my Countryman in late Sept. (maybe) and the iPhone5 in Oct. (maybe), so hope this is all sorted by then.

Not sure... But the one for the 3GS is out and working. I'm not a betting guy per say..
But I'd be willing to bet it won't be resolved. If it is, will be for the 4... Cause the 5 is physical size is not the same.

For some reason, BMW has always made cradles for specific phones. We've been dealing with this for years. On the one hand, it gives a very elegant and fitted appearance and makes connection easy. On the other hand, it's a monumental PIA. I'd be realy happy with a short cable in the glove box to plug into, as long as it functioned. Arm rests are for other stuff you need at hand.

So is there any way to just put it in the armrest without the cradle and still be connected to the cable? Has anyone tried to rig this up? I didn't look at the armrest closely to see how it looks inside or how that could even work.

Technically, there's always a way. Practically, how much time and money do you have and do you have a friend or two in Bavaria?

Iphone has to be run thru the arm rest. If you plug it into the USB, it will tell you NO. Arm rest has a proprietary connector that matches their proprietary cradle - and nothing else. Only the connector in the cradle that matches the iPhone uses anything that is not BMW. And BMW has to match the iPhone connector to the cradle connector to the arm rest connector to the MINI Connect connection.

Sealy - Who's still wondering what the cost of BMW KY is going to be. If that's what it takes, I'm practicing grabbing my ankles.

I took the sunglass holder made some adjustments and it holds my I phone 4 with a bumper on. I also took the whole cradle out of the expensive armrest and was looking to mount it elsewhere…just don't have as much time as others do for these projects. Also purchased a 2nd armrest w/o the cradle and mounted in the back for my daughter and friends…just another place to put more things as Sealy mentioned. You can extend the mini supplied Y cable and run it into your existing armrest and connect the phone that way and at least its hidden. That was my reasoning with the sunglass holder..if I made a quick stop it was not out in the open..more concealed and did not have to plug and unplug every time I left the vehicle. My I phone 4 does everything available with the connected Y cable. Still waiting for Office to be up and running…appointments, calendar, etc.

That is what I was thinking to keep it out of sight and still have a functioning Connected App.

I like your sunglasses holder idea as well. Guess I will look at the options when I have a car and phone assuming they have not miraculously solved all the issues by then.

We can only hope…but as said earlier by that time the 5 will be out and we'll have to resist the temptation of upgrading…otherwise the cycle will repeat with the 5 phone not fitting the 4 cradle.

Note that Flyer has a pre-03/2011 CM. Newer vehicle have software that was changed to block access through the usb port. We're cradle or nada.

No. Jamming stuff in is reserved for your boot.

Looks like it does exist: http://www.minigenuineparts.co.uk/mi...2_218_390.html

Full Media Snap in adaptor for Apple iPhone 4, only for use in cars with Full Bluetooth option with connections in armrest.

Manufactured specifically for the iPhone 4, this gives full charging and integration with the onboard computer.

To make full use of this snap-in adaptor, the MINI should be built from at least March 2011 on (September 2010 earliest) and include at least Visual Boost and Full Bluetooth with Armrest options. If you have more options such as MINI Connected, Navigation you will be able to access more features

List of tested and confirmed functions on March 2011 build onwards (car spec has Nav, Connected, Full Bluetooth):

- Charging iPhone 4
- Music streaming with playlists
- Display Album artwork
- Web Radio (Connected App)
- RSS News (Connected App)
- Twitter (Connected App)
- Facebook (Connected App)
- Google Send to Car (Connected App)
- Google Local Search (Connected App)
- MINIMALISM Analyser (Connected App)
- Mission Control (Connected App)
- Dynamic Music (Connected App)

It's promising. Is this the one Flyer researched and rejected?

Sealy - Who doesn't need another $233 promise.
