Never actually noticed. Bottom has an opening that looks like there may be a very small fan installed under it. Mine has a -02 extension on the actual cradle. I didn't list it on the last post as it wasn't on the box. Looking at it now, I think it is about a 1" square fax with side ports and input that sits right below the Apple logo on the phone.

Does the 84 21 2 218 390 display “cover art”? Do the Mini Connected applications work (Driving Excitement, Google Send-to car,...)? Also which iPhone? 4 or 4S?

 

Cover art works with Pandora, don't presently have any songs on phone to check. All other MINI apps work. Have a 4S.

 

I was once told by my service manager that BMW parts & #'s necessarily don't coincide with Mini Parts & #'s…but this sure sounds like the right adapter.
Were did you end up ordering from…and what was the cost again ?

yep i can confirm the bmw one will and is an exzact fit in our countryman, we use it with the iphone 4S and it streams media and all that jazz. the cost was $235 from my dealer.

all you need to ask for is the ihone 4 holder for BMW that streams media their are two models one that does not and one that does and it sais media on the dock itself.

ive had this dock now since we purchased the countryman back in the summer and its been working flawlessly!

all cover art shows with pandora and looks wonderfull! as well as the mini connect with the alternate guages (hp, temp, tourqe, and G-meter) work lovley as well.


the information that the SA and part managers where giving people that their is no dock that works yet for the countryman are reading old information and giving the wrong information. this part has exsisted since the iphone 4 was out.

i had one dealer that told me when i bought the car that they are still waiting and their computer tells them their is no part available yet, yet another dealer said we have the part in stock and pulled the part and sure enough it poped tight in and worked great!

to bad we can rely on our dealer network to work properly and they have contradicting information at times.

 

Iv'e tried out 3 seperate cradles since last February with the help of my S.M…they have been great in that regard. I wonder as mine was a pre March build…actually 12/10 build if thate made the difference.
I know the last cradle tried stated Media on it…but pretty sure it read 390-02..which they said meant the 2nd version of that unit. And that was about the last time I tried one just before summer and they stated another was on it's way. 4GAZM does yours have a fan as well ?

Just got a call from my Parts Manager that he does indeed have the snap in cradle#84 21 2 218 390. But he again stated that according to the Mini USA White House..this is not the correct cradle for what we want but has offered me to stop down and pop it in the countryman and give it a try. I was heading that way Saturday morning either way…

I love this game! However, after investing about a grand in stuff and getting not much in return, I decided to quit playing. I have my iPhone 4 on the Y-Connector and my crackers in the armrest ($250 for a cracker holder! ) and I'm leaving it that way.

My mistake…thats is the one I'm trying out…ending in 392. Already did a test on the 390 in the summer…no media/cover art !

Well Sealy has a point…this is my 4th attempt in trying to spend well over $200. additional... on top of the cracker holder…I'm Nuts..If this to fails..it's time for peanuts or a popcorn container

Well got to dealership and the cradle for IPhone 4 ending in 392 was sold earlier.
Tried the 390 listed Media, pretty much knew what that outcome would be as thought as I tested that earlier this past spring. They'll have the cradle ending in 392 Tuesday/Wednesday

I bought the iPhone cradle for Mini Connected only. It plays music & videos. Got mine from Sewell Mini. They give NAM members a discount from the online price. They were cheaper then the other dealers I checked.

 

Mini connected would not even recognize the iPhone in this cradle. The only thing I noticed was that it was charging while in the cradle.

 

ok here is the cradle i have in my countryman.

this one plays Pandora, MINI connect with driving excitment and all the assisted programs, video and shows all cover art from my playlist and Pandora playlist.

my countryman was build in late Augast 2011 and delivered OCT 1st as a 2012 model year.

it looks as if early 2011 this dock does not work for earlier models, id check to see if their is a firmware update is out for your system as i cant imagine why this will work for my car and not yours.

 

Doesn't look like it would leave room for crackers.

It sounds like you got 100% functionality -- including video which I thought required P/N 84 21 2 199 392 (6NF music + video)? Did you research 84 21 2 199 392 also?

 

Same one we have for our 2012 delivered 12-23-11. Plays music and BT phone but thats it. Gives error code of incapatibility when attempting to access the rest. (Iphone4S and all updates) We have tried 3 different ones and still the same. Y cable says these features are not available.
This expensive feature is quite entertaining AND expensive but in the wrong way.

 

Yep, that's the one from yesterday. Would not even recognize my I phone 4s.
I have checked regarding firmware, will check again. The cradle ending in 392 (media)
should be in mid week. I know the build dates and 3G vs 4's effected cradles.

I am waiting to hear results for that one Flyer. My dealer has been very good about exchanging these out but at some point, if NONE work we need a financial adjustment!

 

It's sad... Yesterday's was my 4th Try and the 5th what ever the result, will be my last Yes my parts manager has been great as well....the last 3 cradles
I just take them to the countryman and give it a try...turn around and walk right back to parts. The final one I'm waiting for ........ 392 is not even listed in any of his updates. Everyone has been misinformed in some way.
