It is !! the same cradle from the same site…Sounds promising and inviting..
But a forum member from the UK posted he has this exact phone from this site and it does not do all that it states. I will find his reply and perhaps he can better explain. So with his reply..I did not order one..would be my 4th..did not want to have to re-ship in back. But if someone else is willing to give it a try ??

I thought about it... Filled out the order form.. until I thought about how much it was really going to cost.

I don't know what the iPhone 3 holder costs in US $'s, but I did the conversion for that iPhone 4 holder and it's like $267! Not really interested in paying that much for it....

I can live without MINIMALIZER and Dynamic Music for now.... but would be cool to get that eventually.

ALIENLOVE from Turkey stated:
This is the one I bought for euro118 including shipping. I dont have connected but have mini navigation and bluetooth it shows album art and believe it will work on your car.

But the member from UK…noted he had the same cradle…build was the same and some of the features would not work.

Email received this morning in regards to the IPhone 4 Cradle they are advertising.

The snap in adapter does not provide for video functions on the screen, all
it does is charge it and play the ipod through the radio.

A few thoughts about getting an iPhone 4 cradle just as the iPhone 5 comes out:

* Perhaps they are waiting to release iPhone 4 & 5 cradles at the same time (crazy I know).

* Even after the iPhone 5 comes out they will probably continue to sell the iPhone 4 just as they do the 3Gs today.

* My plan is this: Buy an iPhone 4 cradle when it FINALLY comes out, and leave the iPhone 4 in the cradle - then use the iPhone 5 tethering to provide network for the cradled phone, and it can also wirelessly sync music when pulled into the house with iOS 5.

I was told this morning that we can order the snap-in adaptor for the iPhone now. No word on exactly how long to get one in, but theremwas already one in stock that was special ordered.
Was quoted ~$150 for it. Hopefully someone can find one out there and report back. It'll be a few weeks before I can order one

Not much of a betting guy... But would wager that with Jobs stepping down... They'll follow up that with the announcement of the 5 very soon, possibly even next week.
I think many of us here stated that it would be around the time of the I phone 5 release.
Still, I'll believe it when I see the cradle. I've been through 3 versions and only one was less than 150. and all that did was charge.

I have the BMW snap-in, it looks exactly like the one in the link except is has BMW stamped into it.... The phone gets very hot when it's in the adapter, the fan is useless since the armrest has no cold air piped into it like the BMW's do... I end up leaving the armrest open to keep the phone cool..

As stated many times in regards to the cradle. I've tried 3 versions, the last ending in 390-2, meaning second version of the 390 model. This one on the site is the same as the one listed months ago and also stated by a member on the forum in the UK had one and did not do all as stated. If you scroll to the bottom it states if you have Bluetooth you can use the phone directory etc. You would think with the correct snap in cradle..you could access through when connected as well. With several calls and emails through my parts manager and Mini USA, "The mini cradle is and will be a complete number separate of BMW. Some of the BMW's way work in the mini but not all of the connected functions will be available"

Two Mini Dealers Who Give Substantial Discounts

Try: william.odowd@openroad.com. He is the parts manager of MINI of Morristown, NJ

Also: bmwparts@classicautocampus.com. The MINI dealer in Mentor, OH

(I couldn't make a hot link out of either address so you'll need to copy and paste these email addresses into your mail program).

Tell either dealer you are a member of NAM (North American Motoring) and ask what their current discounts are for NAM members. Several years ago each gave me at least 20% off list on several purchases. And of course they don't charge sales taxes either for out-of-state sales. Just shipping charges.

I can see you put some thought into this and have arrived at a workable solution. Many of us Mac people gravitate to new stuff as soon as they are available. So, using the iPhone 4 "permanently" in the cradle while carrying the 5 for calls via Bluetooth, is a thought. We just have to convince our wives that the expense of the new phone, when there is nothing wrong with the old one, PLUS the cost of the cradle is a sound financial move.

In case this helps someone, here is what I posted a little while back in another thread:

----------------------------------------------
iPhone 4 adaptor/cradle works with 2010 MINI
I just received my adaptor/cradle for my MINI 2010.

So, to my original question in this thread, there is now an adaptor that works with the 2010 MINI armrest option. The part number I purchased for about $170 is: 84 21 2 199 390 - Labeled "MUSIC SNAP-IN ADAPTOR".

-- Plays my music library to my stereo from the phone and understands the names and playlists
-- Fits the iPhone 4 correctly
-- Charges the phone while playing music or talking on the phone
-- Works seamlessly with every other option like multi touch steering wheel, stereo options, bluetooth, on and on.

I can't find anything that doesn't work.

Thought I'd share with the group.

Perry

SatopWater thanks for the update. Does it actually show/album art. My last one I tried was the same as your #, and did not on my 2011 CM pre-march build.

Unfortunately, the year model I have didn't come with the "connected" feature you have. However, there were three model numbers BMW/MINI had available. I bought the middle cost option that would move the music around. The lower cost option only charged the phone and allowed using the phone via the multi touch steering wheel, although I didn't try this as I wanted the middle option to work with Music. There was a higher cost model, but I believe it had "Video" in the model description where mine said music.

I believe these are part numbers:

P/N 84 21 2 199 389 - Bluetooth only
P/N 84 21 2 199 390 - Bluetooth & 6NF (plays music too) [This is the one I have]
P/N 84 21 2 199 392 - Bluetooth, music and video - I believe this is an option with the new iDrive systems from 2011.

Again, I can't test the video, since I don't have the required MINI model or components.

Hope all this helps someone.

Perry

This is the last of three I tried…
84.21-2 2018 390-02 (version # 2 of the 390)
Stamped BMW Media for I Phone 4
Mfg. Date Stamped 28/03/11 Hardware: 2.0 Made in Germany

Specifically for the BMW..will work with the Mini partially.

You don't need the snap in adapter to get full functionality. Just buy the adapter cable with video capability $79.00. It will allow full album art, video, iPod control, mini apps, pandora, etc.

Caveat emptor. March 2011 is the big dividing line for Countrymen. Pre can use the cable, post cannot. Software was changed.

Sealy - Who also has the post-March chrome problem. What the heck was MINI thinking?

This I didn't know. Great, since mine was a mid December guy.

Really! I hadn't heard that. I have a 2012 CM on order and I have an iphone4. So will I need the snap in adapter or will the y-adapter with video function work.

What does the snap-in adapter do for you that the Video function y adapter does not? Does it still plug in, in the area in front of the shift lever.

I was hoping not to use the snap-in adapter as I don't want to have to remove my phone from my case.

I know there are two y-adapter cables. One that is video capable and one that is not. Are you sure that the software change doesn't work with the video y-adapter cable or that it just doesn't work with the standard y-adapter.

I can't speak to the 2012s. (Or for that matter to any but my Countryman - MINI is just too darn close to BMW electronic stupidity to talk in generalities.) When I plug my iPhone into the Y connector (4 contact plug), I get a message on the CM screen that says it has to be in the cradle. What the cradle does that the Y doesn't? Damn good question. I never had the cable option. And, after $1K worth of required optional crap, I don't have a functional cradle.

OK, thanks. I guess I will just have to try the different options at the dealer before I drive it away. The biggest problem is that my dealer is 330 miles away. I was hoping to have all these type of issues resolved before leaving the area.

Now, I have another thing to worry about in addition to the belt line chrome problem. I don't know if Mini is still using the faulty chrome or if they actually received new chrome for the 2012's.

Mine was just built on the 27th. Just missed the Toscana cargo ship, now probably sitting at the dock waiting for the Platinum Ray on sept. 9th and the long trip around the panama canal to Port Hueneme 21 days later.

Just re-read that and it sounded a little mean and negative. MINI is a great company and they make great cars. I do love Zaftig, in the long run. Unfortunately, her parents promised a dowery and they've been a little slow delivering. That's pretty much a BMW policy and should not be held against MINI. I've lived with a BMW devotee for years and even had one of my own. I should be used to it by now.

So - you will have a couple of WTF moments. But over all, you've got lots of happy motoring ahead of you. Just relax and enjoy. And I'll try to do the same.
