Pleasantly surprised new owner
Hi everyone,
We (my wife and I) are the proud new owners of an 05 MCS. We bought it as a "fun/weekend" car and if/when our daily drivers are down (in the shop). Well, my daily driver (a dually) has been in the shop for several weeks and the Mini has become my daily driver. This little guy is so much fun! I tend to drive in a "spirited" fashion and wanted to make sure whatever fun car we buy...truly be fun.
So, on day 4 of ownership a 15% pulley was installed
along with a sway bar
. About 2 weeks after a set of Volk Rays (got a deal on them) were put on, couple of weeks after that I installed an AFE intake. (Invidia exhaust is in UPS' hands as we speak)
Personally, I'm big into the track...I take my dually often (and embarass many ricers
) so I was used to some decent power (enough to burn a hole through a piston...). I definitely wasn't expecting a massive amount of torque or pickup from the little guy, but after driving it for the past few weeks....the little guy can hustle!
I haven't "raced" anyone on the track, but I have to say...he's pretty quick. I can't imagine what you guys with 200+whp are feeling...this thing RULES!!
Anyway, just wanted to comment on how powerful these little engines are...and quite frankly...how well they can take abuse...because I do put the car through its paces.
Glad to be a Mini owner!!
P.S. Where can I find that poster that has a Mini and say "Goliath lost". I would REALLY like to put that in my office.

When you get a chance to put it on a road track or drive some twisty roads, you'll be even more impressed!
And of anyone knows how to get that poster, send me a PM . . . .

Welcome! I've never seen one of these, but hey, perhaps you have a business opportunity!
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! We are going to be taking some pics of the little guy soon! As soon as we have some, we'll definitely get them up. Sadly, we don't have too many twisty roads in South Florida but there are some autocross events that we've been told about and will definitely look into that. We can appreciate the twisties, that's for sure!
Now off to search for that poster!

Welcome to NAM and MINI addiction. My wife and I are also newbies - we took delivery of our 2006 MCSa on Halloween night. We're also former South Florida residents. Although you don't have many twisty roads in your neck of the woods cruising A1A on a balmy winter evening has some significant benefits
. Enjoy your new toy.

That's exactly what we were worried about. We knew we were in trouble when day FOUR of ownership we were at the mechanic installing the pulley and sway bar and were already looking at the wheels....
It's so much fun though. It's very much like that commercial with the couple racing home to see who can get to the shower first, well that's the hubby and I, rushing home to see who's going to drive the little guy first... although, he's been driving it a little more often since his truck is in the shop.
Great fun though and will have to drive it up A1A soon.
