It's how your camera "sees" color, so you give it a set "temperature" to see white, and the rest of the colors are based off of that, you can adjust for flash, sunlight indoor halogen bulbs, etc. Yours looks like it is set for indoor lighting so when you went into the sun all your photos have a blue tint.

No however if you are under warranty you can get your cowl grills upgraded to the current style that wasn't desgined for a foam that shrivelled up after a few months.
