How often should I call the dealer?

After talking with Jerry at Long Beach Mini, I email him the order yesterday. He said they will enter my order by the end of September as earliest. No deposite require. That's it??........It's sound so easy. Any things else I should do? Will they forget my order?

Hi, i just placed my order with jerry last night as well. He just said that they would place the order, i asked if i had to deposit anything or anything, but he said "No, it's as simple as that"
So i'm guessing we just wait now, if you find something out, then tell me because i think the situation might be similar.
By the way, what did you order?

I ordered from Long Beach MINI the same way. All I did was email my MA the model, color, options, and packages I wanted and he took care of the rest. I dont remember exactly how long it took, but he probably emailed me 2-3 weeks after I finalized my order to give me my production number, and from there I tracked my MINI myself via the OL. I don't think they will forget your order, so don't worry about that Just remember that you may have others in front of you for production slots so it could take a while before you are assigned a production slot.

I ordered mine from LB mini as well.

They called me before putting the order in to confirm everything, then they will give you a prod. number as usc said. If they put your order in at the end of this month, you will probably have a production slot mid-october

congrats!!

Nice, i wanted white with black top but got chilli red instead
MCS chilli red w/ white roof, ipod adapter, premium pkg, and the standard wheels. I'm new to buying new cars......so i didn't want to spend too much, i'm glad i got the S though, i think the 6 speed is going to challenge me a bit because the only stick i've ever had was my 71 vw bug and it was a 4, so it should be pretty interesting. Yours sounds really nice though, i wish i had gotten colored interior but again.....that was more money, so black will do.
Can't wait to get mine, i can't stop talking about it to people and i take it they might get tired of it but this place is cool because everyone is in love with their MINIs or soon-to-be MINIs.

I know a couple of MINI owners ordered through Long Beach..but never heard anything from them for almost 4 months to tell them that their MINI was available. During that time they had already gone to another MINI dealership, ordered and had their MINI delivered to them a couple of months before LB called them.

I am not saying you should do the same...but there is an option for you. I ordered my MINI from Crevier Aug 31...and I am going to have my MINI delivered before the end of October.

You can call LB as many times as you want. They never called me through the build process, not that they had to, but it would have been nice. The only time I called the MAs at LB MINI was when the Owners Lounge changed its status just so that I can get confirmation that what I was reading in the OL was what LB was gettting in their computers.

I also called LB MINI within the first week of my build order just to confirm or change my specs. After that first week, the build order specs cannot be changed. So make sure you have what you want before the end of that first week you place the order.

I live in Tennessee and once called Long Beach and was totally surprised by their "no deposit" thing. I guess they figure they will sell the car if the buyer backs out.

At my local dealer, I had to put a $500 deposit down for an MC and $1k for MCS. It's a lot, but it's just that much more toward my downpayment. I got my production number the NEXT day, by the way. I would worry if it took 2-3 weeks to get a production number, because that means the production of the car is that much farther away.

One thing to ask your dealer... most dealers have productions slots. They build some cars that they think will sell. When a customer comes in to order a special build of their own, the dealer goes in and modifies one of those slots. If the slot is in 111 status, then they are still a bit away from actual production. If they are in 112 status, those cars are very close to production. I ordered my car on a Friday in 112 status and by Monday it was in production (150 status is unchangeable and in production, I believe).

Sounds like Long Beach either has a lot of slots... or a long waiting list. I would want to know approx. when my car was going into production before I placed the order so that I could figure out how I was going to stand the wait.

Sorry... not to make you anymore crazy about the wait! It is hard. But if you need your car sooner, you might want to ask them when the order will go in and what the status is.

Several members have ordered from LB. I ordered from SB. SB required a 1k deposit which I refused to give. I placed a $500 deposit for my MCS. So cal area has a longer wait than many other states. But, I have to say that my car was will be ready for p/u next week and that is 6 wks earlier than I had anticipated. I placed my order on 8/2. There are a lot of dealerships out here that will give you a quicker production date if you are willing to pay a dealer markup. As for me, I didn't need a car that bad! I would have ordered from LB, but I have a relationship with SB. You will be fine with LB. Call as often as you like. That is what they are there for. I think I waited for 3 wks before I received my production number. Happy motoring.
