Keep my 2003 Cooper or take the GP in October??

Hi all,

I have a 2003 Cooper that is the rare velvet red and is loaded and only has 22k miles. I ordered it just the way I wanted it. I now have a locked in slot for a new GP to be delivered in late October or early November. I am really torn between selling my Cooper or selling my production slot!!! Any feedback or interested parties for either?

Thanks!

Whoa... the GP's a totally different animal!
No back seat - do you use yours now?
Of course the performance is in a different league with JCW everything, and it will probably become a collectible, rarer and more desirable years from now than even the quite rare Velvet Red Cooper.
If money and no back seat is not objectionable, go for the GP.
Good luck deciding.

I'll trade you an 06 Cooper for the GP (the car, not the slot).

If I had a chance to own a GP though I would definitely go for it. From everything I've heard its a very special car that will be very unique and may even end up being a collectors item. It all depends on your situation. But if you don't think you'll take advantage of the amazing performance and your Cooper suits you fine, let someone else take it that will use it as intended.

You have all eternity to be practical when you are stuffing your coffin. Make sure to live a little while you are still alive and get some excitement and have something that you can only share with 999 other people.

TAKE THE GP!

I think its officially 1,999 others worldwide and 413 others in the US. There were 1000 MC40's

I say if you are able to have a two seater and are fine driving as you drive your car now... Go for it! I heard that MINI created these with the hopes they would be driven. Let us know what you decide

If money isn't a problem, keep them both. That's what I did with my slik green '03 MC, when I got my royal grey '06 MCS. Now, both colors have been discontinued....

Man, I know how hard it is to actually part with a beloved MINI....I'm facing a similar situation and everytime I drive my '03 Cooper I just can't get over how utterly perfect it is in every way. *Sigh*...I'll move on eventually.

Keep the '03 and mod the hell out of it. You'll have the body you love with likely more spank in its pants than the GP. You'll even have the two back seats to pile up all the $$$$$ you'll save.

GP, of course, just make them put the back seats back in...

Since it is your money, and since we're a group of MINI enthusiasts, most of us will tell you to take the GP.

You'd drive a (more) unique car, for sure. Good luck with your decision.

If you can swing it, have both. The 03 as your daily and the GP as your fair-weather weekend cruiser.

I hope you wouldn't sell your production slot. Perhaps trade it for the equivalent of whatever deposit you put down, but not sell it.

I'd personally keep them both, but if I had to make a choice, I'd keep the GP. With 1000 worldwide (I think), it's one you won't see too often.

Thanks everyone!! Keep the advice coming. At this point I am the proud owner of GP#1292 to be delivered late October. I am still undecided but leaning towards keeping the GP as I can not keep both.
