Production Week 29 (July 17, 2006) Support Group
Hi guys and gals, I'm not in Week 29, but close - I ordered last Friday. Do I call 1-800-ASK MINI? Is that the number? If so, what info will they need when I call? I didn't know you could actually talk to someone, and I'm so anxious!!
Thanks in advance

As for production week, it really depends on what production slot your dealer can get you into. This week is production week #31 (if my math is correct) and based on my own wait time (and that of others posting here) your mini probably won't actually start production for another week or two. And you also have to contend with the August shut down at the factory.
To give you a frame of reference - I ordered my mini in Boston on June 22nd and it's due into port in NY this Thursday. Assuming a relatively short amount of time for transport to the dealership and work that needs to be done there, I am hopefull that I'll be able to take delivery by the end of next week. Which is to say, almost exactly 6 weeks after placing my order.
Edit: Seeing that you're not exactly a new member here, I probably just told you all sorts of stuff you already know - feel free to ignore everything after "get the production # from you MA"
Thank you, that was incredibly helpful. I do have my prod. number, the dealership called and gave it to me Saturday morning. I guess I'll see from here; I was given an est. delivery date of early Sept., so I suppose that sounds about right.
Thanks again!
Edit to your edit: Yes, I'm not *new* new, but new to ordering a MINI - so while I've gleaned some information, I'm still not totally sure about the whole process. I just want to make sure I don't make a fool out of myself when I call ASK MINI.
Thanks again!

That's great that you got a production number so quickly - my mini wasn't officially ordered until a week after I put the deposit down. I was less than pleased about that, but there wasn't a whole lot I could do about it at that point.

After checking out the mini2 forums a bit, I'm a little apprehensive about going through HC instead of MoP. I may end up trekking up to MoP for service, although I will give HC the opportunity to impress me before I go that route.
Which did you go through?

The issue was that he wasn't going to be at the dealership on Thursday and he didn't want to lose the sale. Of course this is not my problem so when the power went out in my office that Thursday, the MA who was on site got the commission. My MA seems to be fairly on the ball, although as I mentioned in a previous post, my order wasn't put in until the following Thursday - which doesn't speak well for them IMO. I'll give them a shot when my first scheduled maintenance comes up since they're so close but if I continue having these minor frustrations I'll take it up to MoP instead.

Yeah, I've heard lots of not great things about the service at HC. I actually visited there a year ago and NO ONE helped me out. I ended up just leaving without a test drive. Heard from a friend MoP was really good, so I went up there and test drove, then a few weeks later ordered my MINI!
I am picking my MINI up on Friday and am definitely excited about it. I know there is a guy on the MINI2 forums that lives in Somerville also... jwardell I think is his name screen name over there.
The Liberty is making progress. Was at N48 54 W35 18 at Midnite 7/26 CST in 11 ft seas, winds 39 knots. Seems to be heading out of that little blow. Seems to be at or nearing halfway!
Glad we weren't on that auto carrier near Alaska. They don't look pretty on their sides.
Looks like smoother sailing for the Liberty.

May the Liberty have fair seas! I zoomed out from those coordinates as when you are close in there is nothing but...water....but zooming out you can see they are getting closer to Nova Scotia/New Brunswick---welcome to (almost) North American MINIs!

I'm so excited I just found a pair of the PIAA rally lights on ebay for 100 bucks...they're used off of another guys mini (in good shape), but I just couldn't justify the 400 for them through the dealership! Let's pray for good weather guys!
Excuse me, is this where the support group meets?
I'm getting a bit obsessive and should probably be isolated with those of similar affliction.
built 7.17. ASK-MINI says ship 7/24. BUT...
Wallenius Wilhelmsen site (very cool, http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do , enter your VIN)
says the boat left Southhampton 7.22 on the Liberty. now I can see it on the SAILWX.INFO site and it's halfway across the ocean.
I'm thinking of renting a jetski and going out to find it.
I picture the mini's playing shuffleboard on the aloha deck w/ julie mccoy.
I am not a well man. <grin>

You are not unique in your illness. I flashed on the shuffleboard bit myself but I didn't think of Julie
Liberty Update
Liberty is diving southwest seeking and finding smoother sailing. As of 1pm CST, she is experiencing seas of 3 feet with winds of 14 knots and was located at N46 48 W038 30. Much better than 11 ft seas and winds of 39 knots!
Glad I put a Dramimine patch behind Red's ECU.
