I noticed that too! Still can't find any tracking on the ship but it's got to be getting close! I'm still hoping it docks on the 5th, which means it needs a fast tail wind tonight!

Anyone on the west coast able to track the Maersk Teal? Looks like it should be in the Panama Canal tomorrow and is tracking for 20 day cruise (they shaved a day on the way over). I still can't track it...

It looks like the Trianon is going to dock first today and according to the Port of Charleston website, the Liberty will dock tomorrow, 8/6. How the Trianon, which left Southampton 7/23 beats the Liberty, which left 7/22, I don't know but being 2nd, the Libertarians get screwed and the Trianuts will have the edge getting out of the VPC first. Who knows. Sometimes, the First shall be Last and vice versa. I guess it just depends on how the Lib's (and I don't mean politically) karma stacks up against the Tri's karma. How's that for yang! Now breathe.....

Don't get too upset for those of you with your boat about to dock... it won't be long now! For west coasters on the Maersk Teal, I finally tracked her down and she is approaching the Panama area (see below). Anyone know the link for the live web cam at the locks so I can watch come through the canal?

Alright... I am getting nothing accomplished today. I found one webcam for the Panama Canal http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

And I have just explained to my daughters where the boat is in the process and why it is going through the canal (quite educational for all involved). However, what I need to be doing is working on my old British Motorcycle so I can sell it. I am trading something old for something new... so if any of you are in the market for a '74 Norton Commando, one of the last Super Bikes to come out of England (probably built in a factory not too far from my MINI)... let me know!

I think I better get outside and mow the yard or something...

It feels great! The quality is remarkable and it looks great! Due to the locking collar, it goes on easy and comes off easy. It does make a significant difference in the shifting action. It makes each shift more fluid due to the added weight. It takes the knotchiness out of the gearbox. I wouldn't say the difference is night and day however. It does get warm in the summer (tinted windows make all the difference) and cold in the winter but not unbearably so. As you can see, I've been dodging the $$?? Is it worth it? I think so but it's a lot of $ for a shift **** if you think of it as just a shift ****. Your passenger wouldn't have a clue how much it cost because they wouldn't even guess that a shiny metal ball costs $85-$150 or so. I kept toying with the idea for six months before I pulled the trigger. It's one of those...I'll bet its nice...sure would like to get it....it reads good on NAM (for the most part).....nah, I can't justify the $$$ for a ****. Then you look at the other brands, some of which are pretty pricey and then you go...nah, the stock **** is good enough and you put it out of your mind for a month. Then you replay the same scenario again and again until eventually it catches you during a particularily flush month and you compulsively pull the trigger and then you second guess yourself the whole time until it arrives (which wasn't too long) and then you're glad you got it because after all, the $$$ is gone and its beautiful and you swear you'll never tell your passenger how much it really cost because they'd think you're crazy! In the end I'm glad I got it because I don't have to go thru that same cycle. I've already snatched it out of the old ( 05 MINI) ready to put it in the new MINI as soon as he gets here. I hope you didn't want the three word answer because I wanted you to know what the mind thing you'll probably go thru is like. It's a lot of $$$ but it's a lot of car and its the type of **** that the MINI deserves IMHO. Some people don't like it for whatever reason. There's a lot of threads about it so check them out.

Well, I've got to go check out Oceanweather to see if I can spot the Liberty. No luck the first 30 times today.

Oh yeah, I got the plain polished Whalen. It's . It goes real well with the crome line interior/exterior too!

I noticed that too....our numbers are not so impressive...bummer..

I keep checking to see if the Liberty is at dock yet, but I don't think it is. The WW site now has 2 listings for Charleston, one for the 6th, and one for the 7th. I hope this doens't mean that we got pushed back a day

I just found a buyer for my old car and he's driving from Ohio to pick it up on Friday....which means I need my mini by Saturday!! If not I'm gonna be renting a car, or maybe I can convince my MA to give me a mini loaner car ....but that is kind of doubtful.

The port of charleston website http://www.port-of-charleston.com/vessel_schedule.asp still says the Lib arrives today. The Trianon has already left so the dock/slip is open. The walenius (sp?) ships arrive at the Union Pier.

I don't think there are that many of us on PW 29 SG. Those that are here are not as chatty as 27. I'm usually not chatty at all but these are extraordinary circumstances.

minigrrl,
What method did you use to sell your car?

It appears my MINI is on a ship (according to the owners lounge), but still not trackable on the WW site. There must be another shipping company.

I put my old car up on Auto Trader, and got a call after about a week...got it all nice and clean and posted some pics with it. I think it was like 60 bucks to run an ad online and in the magazine until it sells....not too shabby

You're right. We are lucky. I ordered 7/7 and our car are almost here! We missed plant shutdown, long waits for production slots, long waits in Southampton, Tropical storms/hurricanes, long waits in the VPC....oh oh.. I hope I didn't jinx things by getting ahead of ourselves.

It looks like the dock works around the clock. Aside from the fact that its getting late, what makes you think it wont dock today?

I stopped by my dealer today so I could show my youngest daughter a MINI up close (at least that's the excuse I used). She keeps getting them confused with Scions (she is only 5). While I was there my MA asked me to choose how I wanted to program my car. Just curious if anyone else chose options for programing... here were the options I remember:

Door lock/unlock with remote
* One click opens all doors
* One click opens driver, two clicks opens all

Doors lock when car reaches 10 mph? Yes/No

Lights stay on after shutting off car if brights are clicked
* 40 sec/90 sec/120 sec

I can't remember any more but it seems there was another one or two. Any one else chose theirs?

Not sure if I am on the Trianon

I was told by ask mini that my mini left port on 7/23, so from what I have read I think its on the Trianon. Does anyone know anything more about the status of that ship. I have tried using the WW site but I cant get any info from there using my VIN. Any info would help me out

The Trianon arrived, unloaded and left Charleston on 8/5/06. I'm still waiting on the Liberty who was originally supposed to arrive there 8/5 then 8/6. Your car is already in the VPC you lucky dog!

According to the port of Charleston website, the Liberty arrived yesterday evening at 8:15 pm EST. By now, our MINI's should be safely in the VPC! Yay!!!
