That's okay, I drove my '73 911 to and from the dealer to make myself feel better and then took the Mini to a PCA meeting the next morning, plus a long drive to the mountains Sunday.

The speed in which you can take turns and curves is fantastic...it always makes me giggle. I didn't test drive the S because I couldn't afford it and didn't want to know what I was missing. The base mini is not lacking in power what so ever. Driving it home I caught myself squeeling my tires a couple of times by accident. So far the gas mileage has been amazing and I can't wait to get all the goodies on Basil! I love this car...but I did have one minor bummer which I'm not going to freak out about because it was an accident and is easily fixable. I walked out to my mini in the garage and found my boyfriends bicycle against the bonnet of Basil. And sure enough there was a small dent because of the handle bar....ughh..I guess it had fallen over when he put it back....it's very small and I'm sure no one would ever notice besides me but it was only the 2nd day of ownership!!! I'm taking it to a paintless dent removal after work today to get the dent out...no biggie..but slightly traumatizing..

EDIT: Just noticed there is also a tear in my passenger door (also small) but could have only been done by a passenger.....the only passenger in my car has been my boyfriend. Now I'm getting pissed... is there some vendetta against my MINI?? COME ON??? I wasn't going to let the dent in the bonnet get me mad it can be fixed relatively inexpensively but a tear in the cloth door!! That would probably cost a pretty penny to be repaired, so it probably won't get repaired...ughh.
I think you can now post in the "How long did you have your MINI before something bad happened" thread.

Sorry to hear about your dents and rips. Time for a new boyfriend? Maybe he needs to drive it to appreciate it, ...or maybe not.

My MINI is finally off the boat and at the VDC!

If it's at the VDC it won't be long now!!

Good news, the dents are gone. I went to a paintless dent removal place right around the corner from my house and they removed them in 5 minutes...whewwww...Basil looks good as new! Talked to my MA and she says they have a vinyl repair guy that can fix the tear in my door easy, so next week when Basil goes in for his other minor fixes they are going to do the vinyl as well.. Sigh...maybe I should sign up for the dings and scratches warranty..

As Freud would say..."hmmmm"

In an earlier thread, didn't someone raise the jealousy issue? (3/4 kidding here)

Not meaning to stir up a nest but... "things that make you go hmmmmm."

Mine is on the Teal...I guess it landed in Port Hueneme today (hopefully). Since this is my first post...I guess I'll introduce myself.

I haven't had to agonize as long as most of you waiting because when I decided to get a mini about a week ago, my MA found a car that was already on the Maersk Teal and wasn't spoken for that matched almost exactly what I was spec'ing. The only thing missing from this car was the cold weather pkg and the convenience pkg., both of which I can handle not having (I live in Phoenix, AZ, so cold weather package is very optional...and the convenience stuff is just "nice to have"). So, seeing as how I wouldn't have even been able to order mine until October (and get into the late October production for delivery late November or December), I was happy to give up those two options for a 1.5 week wait.

That said...what am I getting? It's a CR/B MCSC with Premium and Sport, 17" 5 spoke bullets, Limited Slip, Black stripes, body color interior, and Panther Black Leather! I'm very excited, and am now agonizing for about the next week. I know...it's nothing compared to 4 months...but still doesn't seem that way right now. Especially since I'm not very patient by nature. My car had a prod. date of 7/24 and has been sailing around the world since on the Maersk Teal...finally getting to the VDC hopefully today. Not sure when it will be ready for delivery from Mini North Scottsdale, but if all goes as planned...I should be motoring one week from today.

Thanks for the therapy, guys. Happy motoring.

Bill~

Okay, here are some pics. Space Blue is proving hard to capture digitally, these shots are close though.

Congratulations Bill and welcome! I too am going to pick up at MINI North Scottsdale. So, I'm sure we will be there around the same time! Actually, I saw the Maersk Teal show up online in southern CA a day early 8/13 (Actually two days since it was originally planned on 8/15). However, I don't know if anything was unloaded yet or not.

Your car sounds very nice. And no matter if it is 1.5 weeks or 1.5 months... at this point a wait is a wait and we are in the home stretch.

NOOOOOO....it's lost in the belly of the beast! There seems to be some time warp that a few Mini's dissapear into for a short period of time...but always reappear. I don't know, you have a pretty sweet Mini coming in maybe someone decided to "borrow" it for a joy ride before delivery . Totally joking of course. Well, hopefully you're gonna get a call tomorrow telling it's there safe and sound.

As for the boyfriend, he might just be a little jealous since he's got some competition for my time now ...but not jealous enough to purposely to do any damaged, but he's not allowed within 10 feet of my car for at least a month.

Getting tinted tomorrow! I'll post pics.

Why yes, yes I did...considering the poor Saturn had 140,000 miles on it, the front bumper was hanging by a thread, and it had a cracked head gasket. There was no way I was going to sell that car privately, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. They gave me $750 and I was just happy I didn't have to pay to have it towed away. I'd just been nursing the poor thing along in the interest of fiscal responsibility; knowing my son's college fund was almost paid off and he's starting kindergarten in two weeks, so no more daycare bills either. I wasn't at all sad to see the Saturn go.

I'm sorry I haven't posted; I've been too busy driving Perdita to spend much time on the Internet. I missed having a convertible ever so much, and Perdita is so fun to drive and so responsive and...substantial...after the Saturn that she puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. The only thing I miss about the Saturn is my utter indifference to bumper scrapes, and the ding-proof plastic doors. Now I have to think about where to park my baby so as to try to keep her out of harm's way. I'm hoping that with tender care (and my 1.5-mile commute) the MINI will last me until my son graduates from college and perhaps beyond. I have an aunt who still has the Sunbeam her father bought her when she was in high school, so I suppose it's possible.

That said, I'm going to drive her whenever the opportunity arises, and the top will be down unless it's raining or snowing .

The Saturn's condition wasn't entirely my fault, by the way; I'd been rear-ended twice, sideswiped once, and the top of it had been crushed by a falling tree. Not to mention that it was a bit of a lemon to begin with, that car had bad...karma. Hopefully it remained with the car and didn't rub off on me.

Hey that's not bad! I traded in my Saturn on my last car and got 1,000 for it and even though it had alot of miles on it, it was overall in decent condition....but was kind of a lemon too (somehow I exected more out of my Saturn). So 750 isn't bad at all.

Responsive is right! Wow!! The handling on these little puppies is amazing, I love it! It's sooo much stiffer than my last car.

I'm a graphic design instructor for a technical college in the suburbs of chicago. I have a class tonight with only 1 student in it and who is, at this point, 15 minutes late....so I'm giving her another 20 minutes and if she's not here I'm back in my mini and driving!

Congrats, JackMac. I can't wait.

StompRocket...do you have any news on your mini? Even thought the "Teal" came in on Sunday or Monday, mine still shows as "en route". I want that thing to change to "At Distibution Center", just for my peace of mind.

MY TURN TO BE THE SAD SACK CHUMP!...maybe

You know how you read these boards and every now and then there's a sad sack who has something bad happen right away with his car?

Well, I hope its not me but it's starting to look that way. I predicted that minigrrl000 and I would get our cars on Friday. She did , I didn't. I wait out the weekend...Monday...nothing...Tuesday...nothing and then my MA calls late Tuesday and says he's called the port hoping to find out what happened.......ohh snit! Maybe its premature panic. Maybe it'll be on a truck tomorrow. We'll se. In the meantime....ohhh snit!

billwil,

I hear you... I have been obsessive compulsive all day and in this day and age when anything can be googled... I have no information! I called the dealer today to ask another question of my MA and was told that my car was on the boat to arrive 8/15. Wallenius has listed it as 8/14 for a couple weeks and have updated thier website to say the boat docked and sailed on 8/14 from Port Hueneme. I want to see my status change as well... in the meantime I'm thinking of having some fun and telling my MA that the '07 looks really sharp and I am having second thoughts

Don't fret MiniMaxx. There is a part of me that thinks they treat JCW's a little better and pamper them a little more... though I hope not for my sake. Tell your MA that you didn't know they were changing in '07 and you are having second thoughts!

What a bummer Minimaxx! I just read about a girl on another forum who's aero kit was damaged by travel and her mini is still at the VDC awaiting a new front bumper. I guess it has set her time back by a couple of weeks. So hopefully nothing that bad has happened to Red, but keep up posted. It seems like there is always 1 or 2 people per production thread who's mini's somehow dissapear for a time period....somehow I think I got lucky.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you in hopes that Red is on a truck as we speak!~

Thanks minigrrl000. Nothing 2day. When we were first figuring and I made the prediction, I had a hunch something might happen to mine. It was just going too smooth and I think I accidentally put a hudu on Red. I was optimistic because my MA said he had been released from VDC to transport on 8/8. My fear is that it wasn't released because of damage or a car jockey got wild and damaged it during transport. I'm going to be hawkeye on the mileage and if he got hurt, I'm going to find out why. If its not right I may make them do a do over. Then again, He may show up tomorrow. Here's hoping!
