You're right. This is my first time with NXT and it is soo easy to use. Wipe on, let it dry, wipe off follow up with a clean microfibre and you've got a shine soo deep and color, shades darker without a lot of rubbing and without as buffer. I can only imagine if I had a porter......

Well... I don't have good news.

Tuesday was supposed to be the day that my car was to be delivered to the dealer after getting delayed a week. Tuesday afternoon I called my MA to ask when we could schedule my delivery. He paused and said he didn't have a release to carrier notice yet and my car was not in. (The release to carrier needs to show before it will be trucked to the dealer... which means it wasn't coming) So I went to the dealer to get the scoop and they had NO information. They couldn't tell me anything as they have to communicate with the port via fax and email (not sure why they couldn't pick up a phone).

This morning I called to check the status and was told it was pushed to 9/15! I pushed again for an explanation... NO information. Long story longer... I got a hold of the GM and he was able to track down that my car was waiting to go into the finishing shop (paint?) but had no information on the extent of damage. I should find out Thursday or Friday. They gave me the option as well to buy one of the demos, wait for my car (if sale-able), or get my money back.

I want a MINI, but am tired of waiting. I am going to wait to hear about my car. In the meantime, I'm going to check with the Toyota dealer on an FJ Cruiser and call the MINI dealer in NM to see what they have on the lot. It stinks, but that's the update.

Thanks for hanging with me receiving mine. It may turn out different than I thought, but I hope not.

Any suggestions on my options?

Didn't want to leave the last post on such a downer... Bill, you asked for a photo...
Production Week 29 (July 17, 2006) Support Group-anklbtr.jpg

My wife took this photo on a road trip this summer. Not sure if it is a NAM members car, but I love the HEMI bumper sticker and license plate! I would have posted an analog (you know those old print ones) photo of me in Berlin with a nice blue mini which is where I caught the fever for the little car, but I don't have a scanner...

Well Stomp, they say its darkest before the dawn and I can say its true, not only with my car but when I was walking the dawg this morning, it was really dark just before dawn. Right now, its the worst because you dont have enough information to make a decision. If, like mine, the damage was minor, then in my case I have completely forgotten about the lost ten days when I was in limbo. I'm having a blast with my MINI and all is forgotten. My guy couldn't tell me what was going on until the end when the VPC finally released the info about what happened to it and released my car. During that time, I figured the worst...insert visions of flattened roofs.... turned out it was a small scratch.
Now you have a 8-9 day window to imagine the worst as its clear that your MINI has suffered some undefined damage. I think you gotta wait man. It is soo worth it when you do get it. They do do a great job. I've tried to find my repair under all sorts of light and I can't tell. Don't forget, the VPC is considered part of the factory. Hang in there. I think you'll be sorry lumbering around in a Toy truck every time you see a MINI on the road and you'll say "I almost had a MINI".

Thanks MiniMaxx. You went through the same thing and it turned out alright so that is encouraging. I got the roof vision stuck in my head as well. I hope to be in a MINI, especially an '06 MINI. I'll keep you posted.

P.S. One of the demo cars is a JCW. Kinda blows my self-imposed budget though so I'm not sure I want to even consider that option! I'm sure you might disagree though

I'm really sorry to hear about your problems, SR. Wait, though...you won't be sorry, although the FJ is the first truck out of Toyota that has caught my eye in a long while. I haven't tried the FJ on the trail yet, but it seems to be capable truck. Still, it aint no mini.

I'm sure they are offering you some sort of discount on the demo cars, right? Does that help the budget at all to get a JCW? See, this whole thing may be what they call a, "Blessing in Disguise" if you end up with a JCW with at least some discount, assuming they are offering a few $ off. Hell, I blew my budget by going with the Cabrio...so join the club.

Anyway, hang in there. This will all be over soon.

GOOD NEWS!

I heard today the story with my car and feel better about taking delivery of it. The word is that my car made it through the VPC fine and was put in a holding lot for the trucking company to come and pick up. When the driver was getting ready to load my car he noticed it had a chip in the paint on the drivers side door and sent it back to the VPC. Apparently it was very minor and is out of the VPC again and ready to be brought to the dealer. It should arrive by Monday (I'll believe it when I actually see it). I should be motoring in the car I ordered by next week!

I feel a lot better knowing what happened and will examine it closely. I made a phone call to another dealer to see about getting one out of inventory and they had one, but not set up exactly how I wanted. So this news was really good news!

Yay!!! Then PW 29 will be complete. I know how you feel. "I'll believe it when I see it." but you already feel some relief. It's coming Stomp. I know it now. You'll probably be like me, running recon missions over the weekend!

Umm... I won't say how many times I've driven by, but there were two days in the weekend. No car yet. I got my sig (because I haven't taken the time to figure it out either) from COOPERation. If you haven't already, check out this thread... https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=71003

If you do pick it up today. Again Fingers crossed, you may want to reconsider renaming your car to Liberty or Silver Tower, something within the lines of 9/11.

YEAHHH! HOT DAMN! He looks soo cool! I know you won't read this for...oh...2 or 3 weeks but Congratulations! What a relief. Judging by the time of your post it looks like another sleepless night though. When mine came in over the weekend, I thought about seriously camping out overnight next to my car, a) so I could look at him all night and b) to protect him from the creatures of the night! Well, I hope you get him tonight but if not, I can feel the great weight off your shoulders. Sometime, when things have quieted down, I'll remind you that at one dark point you were ready to buy a truck. I know, I know, its probably a great handling truck but its not a MINI. Enjoy the smells, the sounds and the feel of YOUR NEW MCS!

Truck? What truck? I get to pick my MINI (haven't picked a name... need to think about that) tomorrow at 3 PM!

I can't wait! Thanks to all for the encouragement!
