I got lucky and apparently had a car everyone wanted, a TDI Golf. Everyone but the dealer any way. The Mini dealer did not seem interested in talking about it as a trade. But that worked out, I sold it for $3k over the wholesale price Carmax was offering. I put it on AutoTrader online, and had a deposit in less than 24 hours. I had more than 30 calls/emails in less than 48 hours, some as far away as Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Detroit. I had to cancel the ad to get the phone to stop ringing.

The best news though is that I pick up Timo (our Space Blue JCW, named after Timo Makinen) today at 5:00! My wife and I are drawing straws to see who drives it home.

Good morning!! I'm picking up my Mini today at 12:30!! Which is just in a few hours.. I've already called and set up an appointment for the window tinting. I got lucky, the back, front and sunroof are gonna run me about 165! I was expecting much more so I am pleased. Now I just have to find the time to schedule an appointment next week to get the rally/driving lights installed... Sold my car last night... The people purchasing it ended up not making it over until 11:30pm (they came out from Ohio). By the time they drove it and filled out all the paper work it was well after midnight! Loooonnng day yesterday. Waved goodbye to the Alero and felt a slight pang of sadness at seeing it go. But then I remembered I was picking up my MINI!!!! The sadness was all but forgotten..
Minimaxx not long for you at all! I expect to see pics!! Hopefully I will have mine up tonight!

I SAY! What a Handsome Chap! Smashing! Simply Smashing! Once Basil has settled in a bit, perhaps you could inquire if he had seen a young sprinter by the name of Red, amongst the other lads and lassies.

Very nice... I especially like your first picture with the hood swoop stripe and the seats in the interior! Nicely customized!

Thankssss guys! Well he only had 5 miles when I pulled him off the lot but had many many more by the time the evening was through. What a joy to ride!! I managed to find some really fun roads and taking those turns at a rediculous speed brought a huge grin and a slight giggle.

Had only a couple of issues when I picked him up, some tiny patches of paint had been peeled off of the inside edge on the drivers door (which my MA actually pointed out to me, I never would have seen it), and for some reason my ipod won't work with the ipod adapter...it won't even recognize it, so that needs to be fixed also...but if that's it then I'll take it!

still not there?? Well no worries, it has allll day to come in. There is a Whalen Shift Machine up on ebay but it's the brushed chrome and not the polished which is what I want. Sooo if any of you guys know someone who is looking for a brushed one they should check it out. I believe it doesn't have any bids on it yet and the starting bid is at 95.00

Sooo...there is one thing that I noticed that the mini does that I've never heard of before. When you open and close the doors to the car the window lowers and raises itself a little. Almost like it is forming a better seal after the door is shut....strange...does anyone know exactly this is and why?? It is a pretty cool effect, my boyfriend made the face...it was funny!

I think its so that there isn't a lot of pressure from opening and closing the door. I know that its a feature on many BMW's. How is it motoring ????

Ohhh my goodness, mini takes driving to a whole new level. First off I am so glad I got the manual transmission. I haven't driven a manual in 4 years and I forgot how much fun it is. The speed in which you can take turns and curves is fantastic...it always makes me giggle. I didn't test drive the S because I couldn't afford it and didn't want to know what I was missing. The base mini is not lacking in power what so ever. Driving it home I caught myself squeeling my tires a couple of times by accident. So far the gas mileage has been amazing and I can't wait to get all the goodies on Basil! I love this car...but I did have one minor bummer which I'm not going to freak out about because it was an accident and is easily fixable. I walked out to my mini in the garage and found my boyfriends bicycle against the bonnet of Basil. And sure enough there was a small dent because of the handle bar....ughh..I guess it had fallen over when he put it back....it's very small and I'm sure no one would ever notice besides me but it was only the 2nd day of ownership!!! I'm taking it to a paintless dent removal after work today to get the dent out...no biggie..but slightly traumatizing..

EDIT: Just noticed there is also a tear in my passenger door (also small) but could have only been done by a passenger.....the only passenger in my car has been my boyfriend. Now I'm getting pissed... is there some vendetta against my MINI?? COME ON??? I wasn't going to let the dent in the bonnet get me mad it can be fixed relatively inexpensively but a tear in the cloth door!! That would probably cost a pretty penny to be repaired, so it probably won't get repaired...ughh.
