Quick update...

Picked up my MINI today here in new york!!!
Penelope is doing fine, she needs some work done where the dealer botched the JCW spoiler install, and they did drill holes into my front bumper (I told him TWICE dangit!!)... other than that we enjoyed long island wine country and I will have pics soon hopefully.

Overall, slightly dissapointed with my dealer, no fan fair, no fun, no remembering details of certain things, just business. My MA was a good guy though.

Due to my ordering a MINI (DS/DS), it being ordered too early at the dealers fault and I ordered another MINI (PW/PW), my HK sound upgrade got lost in there somewhere. I had it on the DS, I was *thinking* out loud on the phone with my MA debating on an HK or aftermarket, well.... my PW showed up with no HK. And truth be told, I did go back and forth on quite a few things, probably my fault, ah well.

All in all, I will pretty much NEVER order a car out of state again, too much trouble with communication etc... I should have gotten everything in writing and followed up calls with emails of what was discussed (no bumper holes, definately wanted HK, etc...).

I just hope I can get the spoiler fixed at no cost, the install was terrible with black adhesive on the paint, and they used a ton of touch up paint and it looks totally crappy. Problem is, I cant just take it back there to get it fixed.

*sigh* trying not to let these things overshadow my first day and first 130 miles on my *penelope* for sure...

creseida - nice pics, I especially like the first mountain pic with the wheels half hidden.

anathema - sorry to hear your delivery experience was less than overwhelming and that quality control is still not a given.

But you have penelope now and you need to remove your "Not Quite Owner's Club" logo.

Thanks... I thought that one came out really well, too. I was trying to get the whole mountain in behind Buddha (camera hog) and had to go down the slope below the wall to get it.

Hey, I'm still around. Over 800 miles on Blue.Still enjoy motoring, maybe more each day. Mileage is hanging in there at around 28mpg but I haven't had much of a chance to drive except in "city" traffic so I think it (the gas mileage) could be really good if I were to take any kind of trip.

I was stopped at a light a couple of days ago and a really nice lady in a CR/W MCS stopped beside me. When I turned my head her way she started waving like crazy and I started waving back (like crazy). Being such a newbie, it took me a couple of seconds (or longer) to figure out how to get the window down. She asked if I was going to the "rally?" Just as I was trying to ask if she meant the MTTS rally the guy behind her started blowing his horn, like some kind of idiot, because the light had changed. She looked surprised and pulled away and we didn't get to continue our new friendship. The guy behind her obviously didn't understand the need for two MINI owners to engage in some friendly interaction. The CR/W lady seemed really pleased to find a fellow MINI motorer and we must have been a sight sitting there in the middle of the road carrying on while the light changed. I hope I see her again. It was pretty obvious I was a new MINI owner since I still had my temp tags on the car. I got my permanent tags a couple of days ago.

Nice story Beauregard, Motoring spirit I would say!

And I am thoroughly jealous about your short timeline. Two weeks from shipping to receipt. The AB took two weeks to get to the Panama Canal.

GBMiniGirl you should get your baby soon! How long has it been at the VDC, were you having any goodies installed?
That's what my first MA said. Man, if Greg (new MA) is way off on this one he better throw in some good stuff! Ya...right!

WOW! Cool! How did you find that out? AIS Free doesn't track San Diego. Or do you have the secret code?

You have to look close, but the AB is labeled, and the label is now pointing to a group of triangles clustered in the next port above SD. She sailed from SD at 1700, and it's only a couple hours sailing to PH.

Either that, or I'm completely wrong, and am wishing! But if she sailed on time, she ought to be at PH by now. But probably not unloading yet.

Morning kids!

Well, I am leaving mid-day for a few days in the mountains (Prescott). My chorus does a summer "camp"/retreat to get out of the heat (YES!) and prep for the coming season.

Sooo...I will be disconnected from NAM and the Internet until sometime Sunday afternoon. Not sure what else there is to track now. Looks like the AB has docked at PH now.

The only other source of information is the OL.... As if THAT is going to have updated info.

Not to add insult to injury, but I visited PW29SG and they have people taking delivery already. They are, of course, on the EAST Coast.

I really, really, really, really hope the VDC and the trucks are faster than any of the MAs have "estimated" and the rest of us (including non-AB folks) are motoring by next weekend.

This madness MUST end! I'll check in before I leave.

All I can say guys is, hang in there. It is SOOOO worth the wait!

I also want to add that Buddha's OBC seems pretty accurate on the gas mileage. My last tank was 410 miles and 13.5 gallons which comes to 30.37 mpg. The OBC was saying 30.5 avg mpg most of the time. That was a mix of city and twisty country roads, not much true highway driving.

I'd be so very curious to know how you're managing that...

Evie's OBC has been saying 21.5 MPG.

Maybe it has something to do with the 102-degree heat and 85% humidity. Can't wait for November!

Hey Doogs,

Did you get those sunroof sun shades? I ordered mine. Just makes a lot of sense for AZ.

Btw, time to update your sig file!

My wife has forbidden me buying anything for Evie because "nobody can ever buy me anything as a gift because I just go out and buy it first". Well, yeah. But it's hot NOW. Logic is lost on her sometimes.

Finally the AB docked. I'm hoping for under a week to pick-up since my dealer is the second closest one in distance from Port Hueneme. Might have to have the wife go over to the VDC at lunch next week and see what she can see. Can you tell I'm eager.

Silver Roof - R.I.P.

Did anyone else see this?

Sounds like some of you have limited editions and didn't know they were going to be!
