There was a post by...maybe Turcicus...about cleaning the nozzles of some goop the factory uses. Maybe that could help on cleaning that up. ???

EDIT: It was Turcicus - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...&postcount=994

R56 "Official" Release

Found this last night. Described as the BMW Official Press Release for the '07 - http://www.eurocarblog.com/post/416/...ficial-preview

I do NOT like the headlight/tail light design. I read a bit about the distinctive tail light and why they designed it that way...how distinctively MINI it is.

Not any more! Glad I got an '06...almost!

Keep in mind that the head/taillights are still taped up a bit...that said...I don't care for them either. Or the mesh grille on the S models.

My mind still isn't made up on the R56. But, like I've said all along, they have a lot to live up to, and I think it will be easier for them to fall short than to exceed the R53 by such a margin that we all look at our babies and start crying that we didn't wait for the 2007's.

Besides. Supercharger. 'Nuff said.

accident update:

I learned this morning that the woman was in fact not covered at the time of the accident, so I filed a claim with my insurance company. The sucky part is that I don't have rental car coverage on my plan. I called the offender directly to arrange something and she was flabbergasted that she didn't have any coverage, and was going to call her company. I plan on calling her back shortly.

I just read up on Super vs Turbo so I'm newbie to that. What do you say/know? If I recall Super has more boost/air but Turbo is "more efficient" because of airhandler "power" source?

Sorry to say, Drew, but get used to the windscreen thing. It's one of those quirks of owning a MINI. I make sure to get my dings fixed the next day before they grow. Or (ATTN. FUTURE OWNERS!) get the windscreen insurance from the dealership when they offer it during pick up!!! Unlike the tire insurance, this is money well spent!!!

Can't believe what I keep reading about the leaking washers. I've never had this problem...ever. You'd have to understand how unbelievably **** I am about the upkeep of Mosquito. People think he's brand new when he's sitting next to an 05. I'm gonna be looking very closely at Mary's paint! But, this is partially why she's getting majorly detailed with lots of Zaino coats to help protect her paint against stuff like this.

Doogs, one word: Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

They never mentioned windscreen insurance to me.... Will they not replace this under warrenty since it is obviously a stress crack and not due to a rock? It has spread a little already, I'll be making a call in a couple of minutes about this...

My understanding is that the basic difference between supercharging and turbocharging is this:
  • Supercharger is essentially a pulley-driven compressor that forces more air into the engine. This occurs all the time so there is no lag.
  • Turbocharger uses a "water wheel" type design. Exhaust gas spins a wheel (turbine, whatever). This wheel is connected to another in the intake stream. The engine therefore uses its own waste to force induction. This is more efficient, but there is a tendency for a lag in acceleration as the turbo spins up.
Yeah, the turbo may be more fuel efficient, but it doesn't sing quite the same way as the supercharger does. And besides, everyone and their dog has a turbocharger these days, from Porsche and Audi to Volkswagen and Subaru. How many cars out there are running superchargers? And how many of those are powered by something other than a big honkin' V8?

That's one of the things that drew me to the MINI in the first place - its uniqueness and, dare I say it, eccentricity.

Well, I am taking it in tomorrow evening to have the repairs done to it. Hopefully I won't be without it for more than a day, lol. I've got another car to drive while I don't have it, but it will still suck to be without BLISS for a day or more!

Oh, and they said they would replace it under warrenty since it is a stress crack...

Yes. I noticed that the AB sat anchored for a couple days before going through the canal. The do deliver some Mini's in Panama to a dock there, and it was jammed up by other ships. AB had to wait her turn. Believe me, I FEEL the pain!

Not really an update I like to deliver. I was hanging on to the 10th. Looks like a 16th delivery is only a possiblity now. One that is slowly slipping.

I'll tell ya...the next time I order a MINI...I'm moving to the East Coast first. Or maybe will pick it up there!

You could make one hell of a road trip from locations east back to Arizona!

I just noticed this today as I was oogling at Pi Rho that the MINI has little "mini" rear wheel mud flaps... or at least they look like that... under the side skirts in front of the rear wheels. Pretty nifty! :D

I'm heading to the mountains of NC tomorrow for work, I think I'll have to stick around and find some nice roads before heading home.

Went today and had the SA check out the windshield. They are replacing it, no questions asked... They were honest about it and said they have seen it in the past, but not for a while, and that they thought the issue was resolved. Hopefully these "quirky" things will be in the past for a while once they fix them for me this week.

Had my Xpel clear bra installed....and will be taking it back to be redone. They did a really nice job, very few air bubbles and those which are there will dry out (I know from experience). However, the person that did the install obviously didn't feel like doing a thorough job of cleaning first, and they actually sealed dirt (I believe it's a squashed bug) UNDER the clear coating. Now, if this wasn't a 2 week old car I might not be so **** about it, but I just know that this is going to bug me (pun intended) every time I look at it. The whole point of having the clear bra installed is to keep the front end looking pristine...not to keep it permenantly dirty

What a concept: Seal in the dirt and many happy motoring moments.

Can't believe the installer didn't see that while he/she was smoothing it out.
