How long in Southampton?

I am new here, having just ordered my MCSC (see, I’m learning) a couple of weeks ago. The OL says Awaiting Transport and 866-ASK-MINI says the same. The car has been at Southampton since 3/29, last Thursday, and has missed one ship (the Integrity) departure on Saturday.

I have looked through many of the posts on this thread (not all), so forgive me if this has been covered, but how long does a car normally sit waiting to be loaded on a ship? The WW site shows no tracking info when I enter my VIN. There are three ships due to leave next, one each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Freedom, the Toledo, and the Medea. Does the WW site info usually lead or lag the ship departure?

So my car will have sat for more than a week waiting for a ship. Normal or not?

Does MINI use other ship lines? How do you track if they do?

Good Question - how long?

Mine went to "Awaiting Transport" on March 30 and it's still there today on the 10th of April. How long does one usually wait? This is worse than the wait for getting it built....I ordered around Feb 25th, so it will easily be 8-10 weeks before I see it. Grrrr.

Free trial at AISLive.com

I'm aware this info is just going to get buried here, but hopefully will save someone some aggravation.

Do not be surprised if you do not get your login for the free trial at AISLive for ship tracking for a day or so after registering. It looks like it might even go through a real person.

My MINI went into Enroute status Friday (5/11/07) night. But as of yet, I keep trying the CargoTrack link and it keeps reporting that it does not have any status on the VIN number I'm entering. If anyone knows that they have changed the shipping tracking, please let me know. Otherwise I will keep trying. I'm using the following link:
http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do

Just for info, my MINI went into Awaiting Transportation status on 5/3/07.

Agh! What a terrific post, but I gotta tell you that it is extrememly frustrating tracking my new MINI once it gets close to the U.S. The http://aisfree.aislive.com was not accomodating in providing me the trial access to their software to track the ship when it got close to shore. BUT, the cargo tracking web site was still great in that it provides updates to show when the cargo is offloaded. The EXTREMELY frustrating part is the radio silience between that point and hearing anything about when the car gets to the vehicle distribution center (Hoboken, in this case). The dealer knows nothing, MINIUSA knows nothing, and the web site continues to say that the car is "en route", meaning still aboard the ship.

BUT, the MINI owners' lounge site changed from en route to at distribution center overnight last night. I wonder, though, if that means that the car has actually been at the distribution center for some while and they are just getting around to updating the web site.

Any thoughts?

i was just woundering how long it has taken other people to view their car on the WW site. It's been almost 3 days and i still cannot see mine. Is this a normal amount of time to wait?

WW ship image

Here's a sampling of the type of ship our Minis sail across the pond on. This particular one is WW's Madame Butterfly:

I didn't see an answer to the above question and I'm having the same problem. My MINI moved from "awaiting transport" to "en route" days ago and the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site has nothing on my VIN #. Is there another way to find out what ship it's on?

More control over the sailwx map

In case anyone is interested, here are the URL parameters to give you more control over the map that appears on the sailws site.

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...N&duration=360

Replace the parameters accordingly:
  • radius: map "zoom": higher number = farther away
  • lat: latitude
  • lon: longitude
  • call: vessel call sign
  • duration: number of hours of history to show
The URL above shows the following map for the Manon:

AIDA has arrived!

Greetings, all! AIDA, the ship carrying Dr. P (week 36 production) has arrived and left NY harbor, and I'm told by my MA that's where Tate's MINIs become US citizens. So, is there any way to track Dr. P's progress once it's on land on this side of the pond? Thanks to all of you who have contributed... You're the best!

Not unless the transport company has a GPS web site, which is very unlikely.

if anyone who has ordered their MINI custome from the dealer can help that'd be awesome. I need to know if you have to basically pay for the car in order to get it started on building or do they take a portions thing and then the rest when it arrives? Im saving my money and will have enough in mid november but I was curious if i can order it now and pay when it gets here or if i have to wait for all my money then wait an entire 3 months for the car to get in....:impatient

Thank you

Hi Check-
All Tate required to order my MINI was a $1,000 deposit. I spec'd a MINI with sport susp, sport pkg, xenon, and the nav system. I didn't even sign a cotract, just a sheet with all the specifications. That was pretty painless. The other cool thing was that they already had a bunch of cars in the que waiting to go into production, and they gave me one of those spots. So I got slotted for the birth canal in just 10 days from the day I placed my order. Dr. P should have arrived in the US on Wed, and I'm hoping to see it next week. Order date was 8/22, and delivery date should be on or before 9/22. Just a month! A very long month, though Good luck with your new baby!

Most dealers only ask for a thousand dollar deposit to place an order. Other option is you could order a 2008, they are suppose to start arriving around Feb. You would have even more time to save more.

We ordered our MCSa through MINI of Sterling (VA) with a $1,000 deposit. Nothing more was needed - except an abundance of patience waiting for Greeley to be built, transported and delivered. But monitoring the process online added to the anticipation of the big day when we took delivery. We were fortunate - from deposit to delivery took about 60 days.

This was one of the tools that NAM provided to help me get through the wait. My car was only in southhampton 2 days, but at the NJ VDC for 2+ weeks.
