Thanks good Information
Thank you for all the information. It is good to know that I can track my new Mini all the way home.
I ordered on Saturday (OCT 7th 2006), he is a MCSa BRG/W Sports PKG, bonnet strips, Convenience PKG, NAV, OBC, rear foglight, H/K Sound Sytem, Black & Tan Leather interior, auto A/C, saddle bags, and 6 disc changer.
I can not wait to start motoring.
Again thanks for all the good information.
One question, being on the West Coast is there away in which to actually watch the ship carrying my new Mini go through the Panama Canal?
Just curious it is still a little down the road. again thanks good information.

MINI tracking
Good info overall - right now our MCS is about 24 hours out of NY/NJ. It's been a blast watching the progress from production through shipping. I'm a bit surprised though that the MINI owner's lounge site was so far behind - it finally indicated our buggy was "en route" almost 4 days after the ship left Southampton.
I must have a mystery ship.
My car has been in transit for over a week and nothing shows up at the WW site.
I was really looking forward to seeing the ship go through the Panama Canal on the live vid cams they have.

The Distribution Center generally processes cars in under a week, but it can be as long as 2. It took 3-4 days for them to get it in and out and loaded on a truck for me.
Hmm, mine was loaded onto the ship Oct. 13. Discharged at NY 10/21. Been sitting in Jersey since then. Even the MA said that's an unusually long time. Something vague about a recall of a part to be replaced but nothing yet more on that. Any others with this situation? I'm trying to figure out if it's idiosyncratic to my vehicle or if there's a batch of us from this particular cohort in the same looong waiting game. But I suppose it's still within the two weeks rustyboy155 mentions.
new MINI on the way here
I have a new 06 MCS HB with Silver Top sailing with the TOMBARRA right now. Thanks to the instructions I was able to see it has gone thru the Panama Canal and is on its way up the west coast. Now I have to decide if I want to add stripes.
Using synthetic oil in my MINI
I have emailed with "askmini.com" about the use of synthetic oil in my new (not here just yet, due in a week) MINI and I keep getting the party line of 'this is the only oil we recommend for use in your MINI and we can not talk aobut any other oils' no matter how good they might be.
My biggest concern is that by using something like Amsoil or RedLine oil (sythetic of course) am I voiding my warranty?
Any advice on where to go to get THAT question answered without the recorded message?
thanks!

Try this question in a new thread -- it's going to be lost within this question

Ship Spotters
If you want to see what the ship that's carrying your MINI looks like, you can check here -- apparently there's folks who spot ships for a hobby.
No guarantees that someone who frequents that board has seen and photographed and uploaded a picture, of course.

Another place to check is here (in German)

I am on the WW ship AIDA; the Firstnynj site has it arriving tomorrow (Jan. 30) at 6:30 a.m. The WW site has it arriving tomorrow as well but the AISLive site shows it in NY already! Whatever, it's getting close. Anyone else on this ship?
How Do You Track A Second Mini Ordered?
How do you track a second Mini that you have ordered if you are already registered when you purchased your first Mini? I have a 2005 and just ordered a 2007 Nightfire Red on Thursday. Thanks

4. Transport: This is where the Wallenius Wihlmsen site (WW) comes in,
http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do , Go here and click on 'Auto Cargo'. Put your VIN in the 'Cargo ID' box. If nothing shows up wait a few hours and try again. Mine took 24 hours from when they said it had left the factory. Once it shows up, you will know the ship, booking and voyage numbers. The voyage details will tell you when and where this ship is going. The bill of lading number will let you see which VIN's are on the ship with you. you may have to scroll down many pages to find yours.

Does anyone have a booking # for the Liberty, departing next Friday, 3/16? I think my MINI will be aboard (bound for Charleston), but me Vin won't come up on the site. I was able to see which VINs were on another ship by entering a booking # for another ship, but mine was not on it.
