I don't blame you - it's tough to wait when you know it's there. Have you heard anything from USA?

Man, I'd really like to know if my MINI has arrived at Port H. yet. My MA told me a week ago that it was supposed to arrive there on the 9th; I called to see if he had any new information today but he hasn't returned my call! I'm getting impatient! :impatient

Mine arrived on the 28th (I think) and NOBODY had any info on it until the 8th. Mini of Murray apparently doesn't have the same info system that some dealers have- I'd just keep checking your online status as that seemed to be as up to date as the dealer. As frustrating as it is though, the next thing you know it will be time to come get it!!! YAY! How is your "driving a clutch" project coming along?

I just checked the MINI website and it finally changed from "en route" to "at distribution center"! Hooray

Sweet! Hopefully it won't stick around there for more than a week and will get to SLC shortly. YAY is right. Progress is a good thing; I've been "en route" since June 19th!

Miniprof, you must be good luck because I've been checking miniusa.com every day for the past month and until you mentioned it, the status hadn't changed at all. Thanks for your help.

Oh, and the stick shift driving is going very well! I am fully prepared to pick up my car from the dealership without embarassing myself. I just hope there are no steep hills, or it will be an impromptu "handbrake start" tutorial.. Seriously though, I can't wait!

woohoo! Once my online status changed, things moved really fast. My online status changed last Friday and I'm picking up my car tomorrow!

Let's see . . . the dealership is in a totally flat area of the city, so you shouldn't have any problem there. You won't really hit any hills until you get out of town, and then you'll be on the freeway so it won't be like you'll need to stop at the top of a hill or something. I can't really think of anyplace that will give you problems. Unless, of course, you decide to go joyriding in the mountains and canyons before you head back home

Haha..

I dunno, maybe a joyride in the hills would be good practice. Depends on how much traffic there is! I've got a super hilly parking lot in an office park near my house, so I'm going to practice starting on a hill until it's second nature!

Credit Application at Dealership???!!!!???

I recently got assigned a new MA. He called me to "get up to speed" on the info that I gave my original MA. I am financing through my credit union and have been pre-approved. I told him that if he could not meet the price of the extended warranty through the credit union that I would have to have them do the paperwork so I could buy products from them.... Then he says that I still have to fill out a credit application and he still has to run my credit for a couple of reasons......- to verify my identity, - to make sure that he is not selling to a terrorist or terrorist group. ....THIS IS A JOKE!!!....
I told him that I was not going to fill out a credit application and that I was already pre-approved through my credit union and would have them write a check....
I also told him that he could verify my identity without running my credit again.
I think that this is BS and he is trying to get me to finance through the dealership. He told me that "everyone who buys a mini has to fill out a credit application and we run their credit"...

Can anyone who has already purchased a mini through outside financing let me know if they have experienced this?????

Wow, that sounds kind of shady! If they're getting the money from your credit union, they should not be concerned about your credit worthiness. It might be a good idea to post this question on the main forums so more people might see it and let you know about their experiences. You might also want to call/go to the dealership and talk with the manager to verify that this is standard procedure.

Thank you pancakex for your support.....

I just emailed my original MA (she allegedly got promoted to manager) to try to straighten this mess out.....I am not looking forward to going to the dealership to deal with this mess...it has left a bad taste in my mouth

Is there a way to get my previous post moved to a main forum for more people to see....I would really like to get information from past buyers!!

The MA told me that the reason for filling out the financing application was to verify my identity(due to id theft) & to ensure that they are not selling items to a terrorist or terrorist group(like that that is going to show up on a credit report..lol)....I told him that it was not necessary to apply for credit again to verify this info.
I am purchasing a new house and I am limiting the number of inquiries to my credit as you may know that too many can cause your credit score to lower....this is why I went through my credit union and I am unwilling to have the dealership pull my credit just to verify who I am and that I am not part of AlQuida or Osama Bin Laden.....I think this is a scam on his part to get me to finance through the dealer.

It is very simple. They want to sell a vehicle for a certain price....I am going to give them a check for that amount!....(thery are selling something and I am giving them money)

That's total bull. About the only thing they would need is a photo copy of your drivers license. We ordered our mini, filled out a purchase order, gave them 1000 deposit and a photo copy of our dl's. When our Lou Mini was at the dealer I walked in with a check from my bank, a temp tag and drove home. This was at Mini of Peabody which is a great dealer.

Hard to tell what they are up to here but in no way do they need to run a credit check and telling you they do seems in itself to be something that could cause them issue if you push it.

I didn't finanance through Mini, I was given an application and told I could fill it out if I wanted to see what kind of rate they could get me. I was never told that I had to. I ended up filling it out, but they couldn't match the rate I got. I know it is never a good thing to have too many people check your credit as that actually causes your score to go down, maybe he wants to steal your identity I would be concerned about giving someone that information that is so insistant on it for no really good reason

Call another dealer.. or better yet e-mail MINIUSA or call 866-ASK-MINI.. However it turns out I would put in a call to White Roof Radio and expose this dealership for being shady!

Just remember! Your precious MINI did not do it so don't take it out on her/him.

That's crap. I paid cash and didn't have to fill out anything other than the usual paperwork for the sale. Maybe they get a kickback from everyone who applies for financing or something.

total crap. My MA asked if we had financing in place, I said "yes", and that was the end of it. He never asked for our ss#. He said he'll have the paperwork ready when we get there - didn't even try to sell us the extended warranties or anything.

All that being said, don't let this idiot ruin the experience for you. Just stick to your guns, and once you motor away from the dealership, let the fun begin

I too financed through my local bank as they had better rates and I could deduct the interest at the end of the year. My MA asked if I was interested in any extended warranties but I declined. No other forms were filled out. It's good to be cautious. Hopefully the manager will square things up for you.

More on the finacing issue (Corporate Policy!?!)

Well my MA finally called back and said that he "Talked with the manager" and that he only needed to talk with my contact at the credit union to verify information. I let him have it...I told him that their was no reason to try to force a credit application upon me or any other buyer with outside financing. I told him that his was information was wrong and it was a high pressure tactic that I did not appreciate. He said that that is the way he has always done it this way (making everyone apply for financing) for the 3-4 yrs that he has been working at the dealership. He also stated that it is "Corporate Policy".

He let me know that my Mini (Coopster) is ready and I made an appointment to pick it up Thur morning....

I told him that up until yesterday with my phone conversation with him that my dealings with the Mini dealership/experience were good in the sense that their were no "high pressure" sales/tactics used in the experience. I told him that he ruined that and I still had negative feelings reference his contact with me. I hope that he goes on the straight and narrow and does not try any other crap!....

Maybe print this page out and bring it with you so you can show him that he's pretty much the only one to do things this way.
