Longest time at the port?

What is the longest some of you have waited at the port? Indicate whether it was the Southampton port (Port of Exit) or the port of entry (VDC). My first cooper in 2004 waited at the NY VDC for 20 days. My current bottleneck is at the Southampton port and is 12 days with no signs of stopping. How bout you?

Well my MINI only waited at the Southampton port for about 3-5 days and then got on the Terrier. The Terrier just made it here in 8 days. My MINI is now in Charleston at the VDC, and who knows how long it is from here...

Some people say they get theirs really quick from the VDC. Others say it takes weeks.

I hope I get lucky and mine ends up being shorter than longer.

It all depends on what they have to install on the MINI at VDC. I know some people who had to wait two months for the U stripe. MINI got here and VDC did not have the stripes.

Dr. Diff waiting at the VDC is one thing. But why would they continually pass over a just constructed car that at the port of exit (Southampton). Other cars younger than mines have come right off the assembly line and gotten boats while my MINI just sits there for no reason other than somebody didn't scan it in. HMM!

There were a few of us 2005 week 45 people who got bumped from ship to ship to ship. Heck MIB was bumped from its first ship.

I know that it is difficult but just hang in there. ALL will be fine when you get your MINI!

I'm in the same boat (or not on a boat) as you Daddy0 - been at the port for over two weeks. Was scheduled for both the Undine and the Patriot but wasn't loaded on either. I'm getting discouraged.

My Cooper spent over a month in Southhampton in June/July 2002.

It got to New Jersey just in time for a shifter recall and spend a couple extra weeks there.

Built June 10 Delivered August 18, 2002.

I am not bitter anymore (well, maybe a little)..

WOW! I hope that ain't the case for me. Did you ever get an explanation a to why it spent over a month in Southampton?

These previous posts are making me leery...my production will be completed on April 3rd, so all of you better get on ships so I don't have to wait! I want to make the April 8th WW ship, Tristan!

Maybe I'll get lucky since my MCS will be destined for Port Hueneme and there will be perhaps only one stop along the way (GA) and thus the only cars getting on the ship will be those going to GA and CA? If there are only two ports planned on a voyage more cars for each port that get to go! So many questions, so few answers...

I would just like to know how they select cars for the trip across the pond. Sometimes it just seems so illogical...especially when my MINI is on the other side.

Well certain ships only go to certain places. This system seems to be fairly efficient. My MINI sat at the port while two ships docked ahead of it. It waited because it knew the Terrier was going to be a faster trip. The two ships leaving a few days earlier than the Terrier were going to New York first, and that adds lots of time on its way to Charleston.

Er, "it" as in the scheduling computer. lol

I thought it was smart of the computer to know the optimum time scheduling like that...

Well, I'm in (on?) the same boat as DaddyO and RidgeRider. It does seem interesting that we are all in roughly the same area (Chicago and MI). My bigger concern is that I don't know if I really want a car that's been sitting at the port that long. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it seems like it would be really bad for the internals. I'm hoping that we are all coming on a non WW boat. If we really are just sitting at the port, while other cars finished later are shipping before us, it's going to really sour me on the whole experience. I was mainly hoping the car was going to arrive before Easter weekend -- if it is still at the port, that's obviously not happening.

Me too. My MCS was built on March 18th and has been at the port since the 20th. I am in Oregon and so will need a CA (Port H) bound ship. As of this morning, both AskMini and the OL say that my MINI is at the port. MY MINI's VIN has never shown up on the WW site. Asked my MA yesterday and she too said that my MINI is still at the port.

Meanwhile, ships arrive at the dock, load up with other MINIs and leave...

Well DaddyO, perhaps you need to change the thread title to my original idea -- "Our MINIs have been swallowed by a black hole"

Does this sound familiar?

Your vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel
There is no other shipping information available at this time.

My daily call to ASKMINI is now very depressing .

There doesn't seem to be alot of rhyme or reason to how they schedule and ship. My car made it from production and was loaded on the Integrity the day it arrived at the Southampton yard. From there, it was unloaded in New York and trucked to the MINI dealer here in Altanta, despite the Terrier being the voyage following Integrity and scheduled to offload in Charleston. :impatient

Not that I mind - I got my MINI a day earlier than I would have..

I emailed our MA, and she checked with the regional coordinator, who claimed we were loaded on a ship yesterday. That would put us on the PATRIOT, unless some other boat also left yesterday. The WW site still doesn't recognize our VIN, though. The good news is we aren't port waiting anymore, the bad news is we probably won't get it by Easter.

Well i just called askMINI and it indicated that my car is now in transit. Good news. Although no new information on the WW site. I don't recall any other carriers' ships docking within the past few days so maybe my car is hiding in the bowels of the Patriot.

When is the Traveler due? I like the styling a lot better than the proposed coupe. Good luck.
