Hesitation on 06 MCSC - New to NAM

Hey!!! Glad to be a part of the community. I did a search on my question, but couldn't find an answer for an 06 MCS.

I just bought it a week ago and I love the car!! One of the things I notice is that when I press on the gas pedal sometimes the car hesitates. It doesn't seem like the throttle response is smooth. I'm coming from a G35 so I may not be used to the supercharger, but I thought I would ask.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Well, if its a new MCS. Make sure you follow the break in period rules. White roof radio has a good pod cast on them. It just may be everything being so new it needs to break in. is it an automatic? I haven't felt anything like this on my 2005 MCS.

Maybe someone out there has had this happen to them, but you could always call your SA.

Electric throttle, can't avoid it. Its not the supercharger (turbos are the ones that lag)
VGS mod helps dramtically in my experiance (switch from vac to boost really quick), so does ECU software. Unless it is really severe I wouldn't worry.

I've got the same extremely light hesitation [abliet - very, very slight], and is not consistent. Although, this is my first e-throttle car, most cars I've driven have been sensitive engined Porsche and Audi quattros for years. For me it's not a big deal at all. Because now that I know the cause and physics related to this. I've read up on the problem (some have it worse off than others) and what it's root causes are.

The latest on the Yo-Yo symptoms. "Koopah's" response pretty much sums it up as he has been involved with this for a long time.
Yo-Yo and your Dealer

Yo-Yo Chronicles... looong (read > loooong) thread but TOTALLY worth reading EVERY one and every page dating from way back in 2003.

Vacuum Gain System (VGS)

Ok, I got all nervous also, my MINI is brand NEW (348 miles)!! But in the two weeks I've driven my new MINI Cooper S through it's paces in tough 'ol Northern Vermont rallye style roads, on throttle, and off, steady throttle and on the interstate (trying my hardest to go through the break-in period) I've come to love this little MINI more than ever - the total package. These little cars have already earned a very special place in automotive history and now I understand why. I haven't even opened it up yet! EVO magazine rates them with the best and awards five stars, not an east feat.

I'll live with a very, very, very small side effect of physics as I now understand why it happens. Not a big deal, just opening the throttle more seems to fix it for me

it could also be ACS kicking in. I was surprised in my first couple weeks driving my MCS by how easy it was to break traction with the throttle.

Wow! I didn't expect so many great responses so quickly.

I want to read more about the Yo-Yo symptoms before I respond more fully.

I bought it used from an Infiniti dealer that owns a Mini dealer right next door. The car was originally bought from their Mini dealer. It had 3,300 miles on it when I bought it.

It's a manual transmission.

Thanks for all the quick replies and help.

I was debating getting a G35 but one test drive of the Mini and I knew I had to get it. Just curious though, what prompted you to switch cards (G35 is a nice car)?

My lease was coming up. I had a 2003 sedan with a 6 speed manual transmission. It was a great car (several problems covered under warranty though).

I was going to wait for the redesign of the new sedan, but a few things kept me away:

- Gas prices (it takes premium gas and only gets 20 mpg)
- We have a Honda Pilot and don't need two large cars
- I wanted something small, fun, safe and seats my wife, daughter and I
- I've wanted a Mini for 2 years

I used to have a 2003 G35 Coupe with a 6-speed. They are nice cars, but I found that after about a year, I was bored with it and I wanted to go back to a Jeep Wrangler. I got rid of the G35 and got a Rubicon. Compared to the G, it drives like a stack of bricks, but it's fantastic offroad.

My wife's mini is awaiting transport, so I'm thinking that one will be the cure for the desire to drive a quick, great-handling car.

I never really got bored with the G35, but I missed my Honda S2000. We had a child and I had to get rid of the S2000.

I really wanted another convertible that could seat the 3 of us and I wanted something fun and not too expensive.

Yes. It gets much better gas mileage though (when I'm not heavy footed )

I have a 05 MCS and my car WAS like that initially. When you first stomp on the pedal, the car just takes a second to figure out you stomped on the pedal. It seemed to get less and less as the car broke in. After a few months, I don't notice it at all. Seems it's gone. There must be something in the drive-by-wire throttle that needs wearing in.

I've been reading through the Yo-Yo symptoms and I don't think it's that bad on my car. I think I just need to get used to it.

Thanks again for all the help.
