Hi guys, new member alert! Names Dave and I'm in Scotland, UK. Not a stranger to MINI's, Had an original 1978 Mini back in 1992 (yeah, I'm an old git!) which started as a 1000cc but had a 1275GT engine fitted, 10 inch Mamba alloys, twin exit Peco exhaust and more spotlights that the Italian Job reunion! Was British racing green with a white roof/whit bonnet stripes and was held together with rust and hopes! Still loved it though!
More recently and up until about 2 years ago, had a 2008 MINI Cooper 2nd gen in Sparkling silver/black.Loved that car and was my daily driver. Sold it as had too many cars at the time and needed to scale back as we were moving home. Sold my MK1 MX5 about a week ago due to health issues (due to health issues found it to difficult to et in and out of) so was on the hunt for another convertible to replace it. Thought about Audis, BMW's etc but tbh they bore me to bits. My Mrs said "you loved the MINI, said it was mega fun to own and drive, why not get a convertible MINI" She knows me so well!! Hunt was on, but this time wanted a 1st gen as there were things about the 2nd gen I didnt like such as the crap plastic timing guides, the fact the radio was completely built in (and was a crap radio at that!) and just prefered the look of the 1st gens.

Well, as of Saturday, after much viewing of cars advertised as immaculate that turned out to be total bangers, we found our new convertible! Stunning little red MINI Cooper S R52. Had initially been looking for a cooper, but my mrs said if we're gonna get one, might as well do it right and get the cooper S! We both love the sound of superchargers after getting passenger rides in Arial Atoms! Test drove it and it drove like a new car, even though it has 72K on the clock (still low miles for year though) Have to say only had her that short time, and even though I'd waited 30 years to get the MX5, this R52 is one of the best cars I've ever owned! Totally love her (now called "Poppy") and have already been out there fixing a few wee niggles and totally enjoying it. Shes fun, fast, safe and soooo comfy compared to the mx5. And we can enter/exit without looking like silly old fools rolling out of the car! Heres a couple of pics. Will get a thread about Poppy started asap.

Loving the forum guys and have found out so much info already since joining! Cya in the forums.
Dave

New member here to the form. I have been part of different form communities, but never the Mini form. I purchased my car last year 2010 mini Cooper. I love the car. Currently it only has less than 64,000 miles on it. Looking forward to learning more about it.

A little bit about myself I am a little bit of a gear head. I am more of a muscle car type of guy. But honestly, I love anything that has attention 2010. I completed rebuild in my motorcycle. It was complete framed, teardown and rebuild. No accident just wanted something different. Started out as 20003 Suzuki Bandit 1200. But when I was done with it it was a CustomStreetFighter. I will try and add some pics. I do still have a car I would like to build but cars take up a lot more space and time. It is a 1969 Pontiac LeMans/GTO. Who know what will because of that. 🤨

So as I was saying I am somewhat new with the Mini’s. But I love it. Each time I get out the car I look car at it and think this is my little gocart. I was looking for a car and I knew I wanted a stick. Car came to me as a former owner pull behind a RV an Older a couple. Had less the 30000 miles when I got it. I think the car set up for sometime. Now I’m having trouble with the engine. I’m hoping by trying the form I will be able to help. Find some health information about work to be done. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of this form. I look forward to finding out more information about these vehicles and enjoying my passion and building the vehicle.
