Hello All:

Over the past month, I've been trying to figure out colors/options/accessories to go w/ on an '06 MCS. I definately want the Tartan Red interior w/ anthracite dash--so BRG is out (xmas 365--not )my second choice is RG or DS--I personally think the darker colors look better w/ the white roof--silver w/ the RG doesn't look right to me so I think I'm headed to DS/w--no boot stripes--(I'll probably do something custom)

As for the rest of the car:

My wife may finally be onboard w/ me buying --hopefully soon!! I'm aware of the '07's coming out but love the MINI Cooper S in it's current form. I also love the whine of the Supercharger around 5k!!! I will probably lease through Leasecompare.com (anybody have experience with these guys??) do to their great customer feedback and low Money factors--about $50/mo difference from BMW/MINI financial.

Please tell me what you think of the color combos--I thought that the red interior would look really good next to the DS/W ext. DS/B or RG/RG was just too much darkness for me. Most likely, I'll paint the brake calipers red and put some red accents on the exterior. . .similiar to the '96 Grand Sport Corvette--just on one side.

I'm praying that I'll be on the road soon!!!--driving my new "S"!!!

 

I say DS/B would be the best and would look great w/ the red int., but that's just my opinion...that has been my favorite color combo for a long time! I hear you about getting the wife onboard...good luck with that and let me know how it goes! I'm currently working on the same "approval" so if you have any tips let me know !

Generally, I find that the white top only works with the color palette(yellow red green blue) not with the monochromes (Silver, Black, etc.) but that may be just my personal preference. As far as the options, that too is personal preference. The only person that can judge is you, based on personal needs, wants or desires balanced against your budget. I think that may be why you haven't received many responses. I would, however, recommend that you load up on the performance related options (as you seem to have done). Convenience items you can learn to live without (except AC). As you get familiar with the car,though, you will eventually wish you had all the performance options and maybe alot of the JCW performance items . The only exception would be to can the DSC. I have found for optimal performance that DSC needs to stay turned off except in the rain or on ice. This is especially true with the LSD. My 2 cents.

 

total newby here so I can't comment on the options but I saw a DS/B MCS at a shopping center here at the northern fringe of Phoenix, and the only words that came to mind were

I'd vote for DS/B--on the car I saw,the black roof accentuated the outright shimmer of the dark silver body

I'd vote that way too and would have ordered that way if I had bought new.

 

Looks like you finally got some action on your post...lucky you, I've had 0 posts so far (newB), so you're doing well now! But I would imagine the regulars get sick of hearing the same thing over and over again.

Well, I'll be a nonconformist and say my personal preference is for RG/S. Works for me, but since you're not a fan, I think DS/W is a good choice. DS/B is nice, too, no question, but I can see what you mean about it being rather dark. For some people, the black roof just doesn't fit their personality.

Whatever you end up choosing, here's to happy motoring in your new MINI!

Also, I'd give serious thought to choosing a lease over buying the car. MINIs have high residuals, and they're also so infectiously fun it would be torture having to keep within an annual mileage limit.

 

ok....ok... thanks so much to those who have chimed in. . .I guess the seasoned NAM posters do get tired of reading about "my cooper will have this. . ." every time they log in here. Amazing the choice of DS/B vs DS/W--oh well. . I guess as long as I like it, that's all that matters.

I am leasing in order to actually hold on to a car for more than 2 years without trading it in and being a closed-end lease. . .if all goes well, I'll probably end up buying it.

Thanks for all of your input. I would probably do some sort of custom graphic on the roof so that it isn't "stark" white. I think something w/ red/black/royal blue (M Stripes) might look good. . .
