Lets wait for some decent weather... Got my used SSR rim today and installed. Looks good and car rides much better without bent rim.. Now I can feel safe with the 2hr drive to Lucky Dog Garage for Pulley on Friday.

i agree for the good weather. Be careful out there today guys - it looks nasty.

Where is this lucky dog garage you speak of? Just a heads up, Coast to Coast is right in our backyard. Perhaps we could look at a pulley party there or something...We would have to see how cliff & company are making out with the shop & everything.

Lucky Dog posted the offer on this site. They are located near D.C. I am taking tomorrow off anyway, so I dont mind the drive. Plus they are only asking $235 installed til March 31st. Seems like a good deal to me. . I hope I notice a difference. Need a little more power. Finally got all of my repairs done. New windshield, Tire, and bent rims SSR GT1s.. (quite a project getting the rims) Had to buy used ones from a shop in Illinois and have one repaired. A bit pricey, but I am done. Bad news is the Seller finally realized he hadnt stopped paying for the XM radio subscription!

Whats up Delawareans,

Painted dash would indeed be cool. I haven't checked in here in a while, Hubs, you said you graduated from Stetson? Did you have Charles Elson as a professor? I think he was working there around that time. He teaches at UD now and I was his TA for a semester. Well, enough about me being a dork, back to the MINIs. Congrats on your new car Hubs, hope you enjoy it.

Supe, dont think I had him for a professor. But, I really dont remember many of them. Getting a little old. Finished Stetson in 93. I got my 15% pulley installed, and everything else fixed, so I am finally happy with the mini. Lucky Dog Garage was pretty cool. The pulley was 235 installed in March, and they also gave me a free set of pedals, because my idiot Seller had installed some real crappy momo pedals that were about to fall off. Probably go back to them for maintenance. Bit of a drive, but would rather go there than dealer.

Philly MINI/ Smallwonders Cabin Fever Run 3/18

Kick the 2006 PhillyMINI season off right and join us for the cabin fever rally/run. You will have the chance to drive some of the best twisties in the Brandywine & White Clay Creek Valley's and also see some of the scenery in Delaware. We will be driving over three covered bridges, two of which are the same. This rally/run will be two hours of motoring pleasure. (With a potty break at the Ashland nature center). Afterwards you'll have a chance to sit down and catch up with some old friends and make some new friends at Border Cafe, which is a Tex-Mex/Cajun restaurant. After dining you will be on your own, but you will be a stones throw away from Delaware Park where you can take a chance of beating the one arm bandit (slot machines) or head over to Christiana Mall for some tax-free shopping. NOTE: we're sorry that we are not able to charge through the Hagley Museum this year. But if anybody is interested in going, Doug has offered to take a group to Hagley after lunch. Karen summed up last year's event in three words: BLOODY GREAT ROADS!

8:30 AM... REGISTRATION BEGINS AT LUKOIL (SEE MAP BELOW)
9:15 AM... DRIVER'S MEETING
9:30 AM... DEPARTURE

Things to remember
  • A full tank of gas
  • 2-way radios
  • Be on time for registration
DIRECTION TO LUKOIL GAS FROM YOUR LOCATION

Any one interested in attending this run should go to http://www.phillymini.org/

and RSVP. The link will be up in the next couple of days.

If you have any questions just let me know.

This should be great event to kick off the Motoring season. Hope to see everyone there.

I do notice a difference with the pulley. Not huge, like getting my turbo GTI chipped, but it is an improvement. I didnt really test limits of car before getting pulley, so I really dont know how much improvement.... Feels quicker though and glad I did it. Probably go for a CAI next...either Alta or Webb motorsports. I need to do a little research.

You had the 1.8T? I remember what a diffeence it made if you chipped those cars, that was a great little powertrain. I think when I do a pulley I'll go 17%. Just to give that little extra edge.

Who's going on the run next weekend? I'll be moving in my new house so I won't be able to make it.

OH...and about the CAI, do a search on here for HAI...JustinO and I did this to our cars and the difference is pretty cool...especially for the price.

Cant make it for run either. Have to paint house. Offered to help my parents...regret it now. Love the warm weather with the huge sunroof. I'll have to check out HAI..not sure what that stands for. Never heard of it til now.

Stands for Hot Air Intake. They named it that because you don't surround the filter with a box to block the hot engine air. Theory is that the intercooler will cool the air enough to negate the purpose of a CAI.
To install the HAI, you strap a K&N Oval Filter (RN-1550 I believe) directly to the throttle body. It grabs the external air off the space where the air duct used to me.
Very interesting, there is a whole thread on here about it I'll have to search for it and post a linik....

I read up on the HAI.. Sounds good. Where did you buy the filter? and how much? Also, I didnt see any responses about water worries, but I didnt get to finish all of the reading.

You shouldve come to me for your real estate closing! Good luck with the new house.

Minisian, what differences do you notice with the HAI? How does it sound? I am interested in doing it. May order parts soon. I like the fact that it is inexpensive. I spent about $4000 on my GTI, and didnt get any back selling it, so I may not do as many mods this time around.

Hubs....Most noticeable change is the sound. The whirl of the supercharger is insane to say the least and you can hear the bypass valve opening and closing when you shift girls or tap the throttle. Butt Dyno says it's good too ;-) I wasn't worried about power increases, but the car seems a lot smoother to redline and overall a good improvement. JustinO and I have both done this mod and we're both local if you want to check out our cars.

You can really never get back what you put into mods in my opinion. They are really for your enjoyment only, they're never going to add any value when selling your car...Best option is to unbolt them, return your car to stock and sell the parts on ebay...

I wouldnt mind seeing your car, and getting advice on the install. Did you have to order the filter, or is it available anywhere locally? I work and live in Newark, if you want to meet up sometime. Free all weekend here. Wouldnt mind comparing cars. Mine sure has a rough ride. I wonder if it is only the 18" wheels or the suspension also. Let me know when we can meet up. I have a parking lot behind Iron Hill in Newark, that would be good.

You actually have to order the filter. Website they give on NAM is the best to order from, I tried pepboys, but it was going to take longer and it was about $10 more.
The car's ride is naturally pretty rough. I have 17" with run flats and I can't wait to switch out the run-flats for regular tires because i hear it significantly improves the ride.
I'm getting married, just bought a house, and time is limited...we could definitely meet though soon, just not this weekend :-) Sometime next week?

Dan, thanks for the updates on the runs. Once again I am doing home improvements. This time a new roof on my porch. My weekends are pretty bad lately. I am still painting my parent's entire (huge) house also. $ for mini parts!

Please keep me updated, and I will check out your website. Definitely would like to do one of the runs, especially in better weather. This weekend looks horrible for roofing or runs.

Minisian,

Did you say you work in Newark? We could meet for lunch if you'd like...Quick meal at Panera Bread, and check out the cars? Otherwise, I am free most of the time depending on work.

And both of you, My name is Reid ...just so you know.
