I'm New! And I have a question!

Hey Everyone, I've been lurking for a few weeks now to try and get more info on my new (to me) 03 MCS DS/DS (did I do that right?)

What a great car! My only concern is...gas tank in the rear with the battery!? Anyone have any fire concerns in a rear end collision? I can't seem to find any posts on this anywhere in NAM?

Otherwise, what a great car, I've owned it for a week and I've hardwired my V1 and installed the AUX port for my iPod. With many more 'personalizations' to come!

Thanks for all your info, i'm looking forward to getting the most out of my new 'toy!'

Doesn't matter where the battery or the gas tank is...there are electrics all over the car and even in the gas tank! The hazards are minimized just like any other modern vehicle. Don't let it worry you.

And welcome to NAM!

DeMini,

Welcome to NAM and the wonderful word of MINIs.
Yes, you did right (buying a MINI!!).

I have never worried about it (have never even thought about it ).

Like Squirlz said wires all over and in the tank, no big deal.

First of all - welcome! NAM is a fantastic place as I'm sure you know by this point...

Second - no worries about where the gas tank is located - have not heard of one single issue... We were rear ended pretty hard in our 02' -

I didn't think it was an issue. Aren't most BMW's engineered with the battery in the trunk?

My very old fashioned father brought up the concern yesterday during a test drive. He's a bit hodgy most of the time and I thought his concern would have been more suited to a car in 1945 than one in 2005. So thank you for easing my woes.

This car is addicting!!!! I've owned 'faster' or 'more powerful' cars before, but something about this mini makes it great at 5 mph or 500 mph

And someone, please...stop me from "me-ifying" my car! This is a sickness and everyday I have a new idea about somethiing I can do!

DeMini,

Stop worrying so much, it only took you 6 months to pulling the trigger on buying your MCS.

Your '03 MCS looks suspiciously like my '02 MCS!

Aerogrills soon!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen...my twin

With that being said, JustinO and I are both going to be doing the aerogrill install on a stock bumper sometime when the weather warms up in his driveway. I've read the post at motoringfile.com and searched for hints here. Any other advice to the newbies?
