Hi folks. New here, been reading for a few weeks and learning a lot as we have a 2006 R50 on the way. It has been meticulously mechanically maintained, and is approaching 300k miles. Slicktop manual 5-speed, 1-owner, custom ordered with JCW “sound kit” and JCW suspension installed by the dealer prior to delivery. Shocks/struts have been changed but otherwise all is as it was stock. Body shows it’s age and wear. Should be a fun one. Will post pics after it arrives.

Nice rare find, i have the sound kit also on my R52 Cooper. Also cool it had the JCW suspension. Does it have the Aero kit? Pics?

 

 

@ECSTuning Thanks! It just arrived this morning. Mechanically fantastic, but the exterior shows age, with rust around the taillights and leading lower corner of driver door. Ignore the tape, it just had a windshield replacement. Mileage just under 296k. It isn't an Aero, was ordered base with just a few options. Drives and runs great! This will be a lot of fun, hopefully.

 

Thanks for the photo, it does not have the aero kit but it does have the rare USA flag Decal on the roof, this was an aftersales option and after 9/11 I would see a bunch of these. They went NLA in 2008 on the decal.

Thanks for the links to info. We have the JCW Sound Kit certificat of authenticity, dated 3/22/2006. The care still has the original air filter, which seems fragile around the edges so we may have to address that at some point.

the NA minis can be livened up significantly.

The injectors are only just capable, the standard cam is tame, & the standard exhaust is a bad choking device from start to finish. Just those 3 things with a remap will make a world of difference.

The JCW kit for the NA mini seems to be mainly about making it sound nicer. It only added 11 hp & I doubt it revved out much better than stock.
