Newbie Mini SoCal r53

We're newbies to the mini world. Just had to pull the trigger on an R53. Excited to tackle this project. Strong motor, with a lot of mods we were planning on making, as well as a lot of replaced parts we don't have to worry about. Still a bit nervous because we want to do so much to it already and we've only owned it for about 2 1/2 hours. Anyway, any advice y'all have is much appreciated!

Congratulations on your new ride and good luck with the mods! I’ve done a few simple ones on my hardtop but it looks as if you have a real project going on...all the best!

I saw your post and totally would've gotten it. We're planning on changing the pulley and injectors and adding a tune but that would've been fun in the meantime.

It currently has full Megan suspension which is something we were looking into. In the process of doing the headliner in alcantara. Just removed it today. Pricing out labour for the seats. I have some braum seats from my last car but would rather keep the stock style seat so I want to get them redone.

Would like to remove the cat and add new headers but need to get snogged first.

Not sure what else yet...any suggestions? Who are you getting your tune from?

Adriancl did my tune...I would suggest pm him
Im very happy with my car after the tune . My cel is off for headers n no cat and Monday were gonna see if we can get the codes taken off so it as it sits would pass emissions .
It has a code for no cat but it's not triggering the cel light . Hopefully after Monday the codes will be gone too then I will take it and see if it gets passed emissions . I will post a post about my results

I picked mine up 11/31/19 and have spent a little over 2500 in mods and maintenance items. It’s an addiction I’m proud to drive.

We’re in Torrance and just got an r53 too. A 2005. Low mileage for the year but driven as a daily driver instead of an enthusiast so all service is dealer spec it seems.

Looks like we’ve got a few choice upgrades and some non dealer type maintenance (like a supercharger service) to contend with.

as I’m working on the car I’m finding it’s really well packaged in general. Not a lot of space to work but everything is pretty well designed.

Addiction is an understatement. I'm replacing the clutch slave today. Waiting for the pulleys belt and tensioner stop to come Friday. Debating on new injectors. And just made the biggest mistake of buying the Chrono gauges without knowing the difficulty of getting them to work. Lol

they are a blast to drive, and I personally love the look. So far wrenching on it hasn’t been to bad, but I’m getting into the expensive stuff now, so modding will slow down a bit, but it will be a blast the whole time.

I bought mine with 138,000 on it, took it to mechanic to have a look and he said other than the clutch feeling soft, everything was good. Well i lost my coolant tank 500 miles later and clutch went 1000 after that, knew this was going to happen so no big deal. None of this has stopped me from deleting the turbo muffler or noise maker, DIY OCC, Blocked off PCV, G Plus intercooler, aFe Dry drop in filter, new tires, and new plugs. A lot of it is maintenance items, with a few performance minded ones sprinkled in there. Now if my exhaust would just fall off so i can justify that expense to the wife
