Hello all! I just came across this forum while searching for info on the new whip I acquired. Its a 2007 S with 80K on it, so I am playing it safe and doing the timing chain, guides and guide bolts, tensioner, cam bolts, crank sprocket and bolt, struts, brakes, tune up and oil change. Already ordered the Timing set and cam alignment tools, hopefully I can get some leads on what brand of front struts (front now, rear later) to pick up? It will be a daily driver, so not looking for track struts or anything. Any suggestions? Also, do you absolutely need the serp belt tools, or can you use another method? So far the only mod on the car is an AOS can, that's it. Thank you!
Welcome to the forum. MINI ownership is an adventure as you will learn. Any pictures to share? There appears to be a good number of us from PA. What part of the Commonwealth are you from?
I am not a mechanic, so I will leave the technical questions to others who will certainly follow fairly quickly, I will say that it is important to change the oil at 5,000 miles with synthetic.

No pics yet, but I live in Pitt. Yes, I plan to change it at every 4000-5000 with Lucas Stabilizer and synthetic.
In addition, the sunroof doesn't open, it just grinds loudly. I am assuming the teeth of the motor gear are stripped. Last thing im worried about now tho.
Hi and welcome to the NAM family, Machine!
We are glad you found us and you will be glad you found us too! Tons of help here, when you need it.
As miniCPA stated the 2007 and gen 2's like yours, needs prompt oil changes with synthetic oil. They are known to carbon up the intake, to the point of clogging it. I am guessing an oil catch can would be a good mod too!
The color is fast too and will get you from point A to B, like few others will!
Blue will take you there in style! Itsme Wayne's 06 MCS JCW model.
