Hi all, I'm happy to say that the other day I just bought my first mini and it is an 06 Hyper Blue Metallic R53 MCS. I'm fairly knowledgeable about cars but given that I'm still pretty new to modding I suspect that I'll be spending lots of time here. Here's to having fun with my "new to me" mini and all the mods I plan on doing and thanks in advance for any help any of you can give me. I'll post a few pics after I get home from class later if I remember.
Peace,
David
Welcome to NAM, an enlightened group of individuals that recognize the MINI as a well performing small car, not a cute one.
Pictures are always good and not too much relative to mods for your Gen1 that are not addressed here. What do you want to accomplish? What type of budget you have?
Thank you, everyone, for the welcoming messages I can tell this is a great community already.

I live in Pottstown if you know where that is (about 30 minutes from King of Prussia).

And, thanks for getting involved.
As far as mods go the previous owner installed a rear sway bar, Koni shocks, an msd ignition coil, and a lower stress brace other than this stuff its stock as far as I know. He did say that he only bought stuff from Madness Motorworks which is a bit encouraging because I know they are all quality parts. As far as my budget goes I don't really have one and plan to just kind of do things one part at a time as it is going to be my daily and money gets pretty tight from time to time being a college student. Ultimately what I want to do is some minor aesthetic mods and detail it first but then I want to do the one ball mod, a 15% reduction pulley, a jcw or custom tune, and if I somehow run into some extra cash an electric exhaust cutout for lols. There is other stuff I want to do too but these are the main priorities.
Also do you guys have any recommended mods? For example, I've been thinking about adding a skidplate because of all of the potholes and sketchy driveways in my area.
Forgot to mention earlier they also already installed a CAI.

Sorry didn't remember to post until just now here are a couple pics of the mini (hope no one minds it being a little dirty) and I also did my first mod yesterday. I added an aux jack and a dual usb socket into the glovebox.
Looks good. Ain't Pennsylvania's road salt great. I was able to wash a couple of cars yesterday when it hit the mid 50s, but I didn't get the undercarriage which is what needed it most.
Yeah PA road salt really sucks haha. And thanks for all the tips I'll check everything out and can't wait till it's warmer and I can start doing more with my mini.
