Would appreciate your thoughts. R56 JCW in Montreal area.

Hello to all,

I'm looking to purchase my first Mini. I am presently in discussions with dealer with regards to this Mini in particular.

Hello and welcome. looks nice , I know by looking at it, its a N18 MINI Cooper S w/ JCW appearance package exterior , steering wheel and shifter. Nice Cooper S.

I ran VIN decoder and it has the following:

P7HNA JOHN COOPER WORKS PAKET John Cooper Works

I assume this means that it is a true JCW and not just cosmetic look alike?

Welcome to NAM, Rob! Looks like a great MINI! When running the vin on real OEM it comes up as a Cooper S and it looks like it had the JCW kit installed onto it.

Its just an appearance package, outside boy kit and inside shift, wheel, door sills..etc

Thanks gentlemen. I was working under the impression it was a factory JCW. Price doesn't look quite as attractive now. Or is it still a fairly good price?

It does seem like a pretty high asking price. I'm not familiar with what they go for in your area, but you can do some research by looking at similar MINI's to get an idea. I'd check truecar.com, craigs list (if you have one where you are), cars.com, etc.

Dont know what the market is like up there. I would check for prcin on the Cooper S same year and miles, without the JCW upgrades. If its around the same price, then the JCW is a bonus and good deal.

The price is perhaps a grand or two high I think based on similar vehicles in the area. But I suppose that depends on the value of the JCW Package.

Which brings me to my next question. I found the various VIN decoders, which tell me what options and Packages are installed, but they don't give much of a description of the options, particularly, what the Packages include. Would be able to direct me to a good resource for finding out this information?
