New to the MINI scene, but have been an enthusiast for many-a-years now. Last car was an 03 Infiniti G35 I had for 8 years - second owner, many upgrades, 150k miles.
I just took ownership of an 02 Mini Cooper S in silver with 64500 original miles. Bone stock, serviced at MINI of Concord its entire life. I am the second owner and at the same time, feel like the luckiest brand-used MINI owner alive.
I have some questions about halogen to OEM Xenon with projector housings. This link: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...onversion.html is the closest explanation I have found of the conversion being plug-n-play, but other posts say that it is not -- this seemed like a good opportunity to ask.
Congrats on your purchase! My dad has been a 2002 base (R50) owner since new, but I just recently bought my own 2003 S (R53) w/ 75k miles, so we are in similar positions! Would love to see some pics.
As to your question, I bet ECSTuning will be able to help you out shortly.
Welcome to NAM and hello from SoCal! Congratulations on your purchase with very low miles! I can help with the headlights as well. They are plug in play. However, if you're wanting the full capabilities of the headlights you'll have to add the wiring harness, auto level and washers. I believe that is required for some locations outside of the U.S. (look at post #14). Check out this thread HERE, post #2 in specific to plug and play. The whole thread has a lot of great information. We have the Xenon headlights HERE. Let me know if you have any other questions or ever need anything for your R53.
sevin, PelicanParts, thanks for the warm welcome! That addresses my dilemma of whether or not to grab these OEM projectors I found on CL - off to find the OEM non-projector housings then!
I haven't yet had the time to take decent pics of the R53, but I'm including the one I took yesterday when I picked it up from the former owner's house. Funny story, the person behind the CL ad for the MINI was actually my good friend's stepdad - we were both at the very least surprised to see each other on the day we met to show the car. This was the icing on the cake for me to purchase.
Here's a pic of Bella, the silver French bulldog.
And yes, the rims are definitely not stock. That's the only thing on the car that isn't original
Those look like R121's. They were an option on most MINI's from 2011-2014. Check out ECS's pics of them and see if they match. Guess the previous owner wanted to upgrade.

You're very welcome. Just give me a shout if you have any other questions. That's super random that you ended up knowing who the individual was. That makes a CL transaction much easier.
