I think it is way more complicated than that. I think there are a lot of parts and software involved. The self leveling mechanism has to be in place to make it work. I don't know for sure, but I would think this would be a complicate upgrade...not plug-n-play.

I'm buying 2 complete headlight housings that came straight out of a xenon car, they have the ballasts and everything, just no washers.

has anyone does this yet? I am interested in doing the same.
I would just swap out the bulbs to make it easier, but is there some sort of different voltage conversion on these bad boys?
I thought to just get the philips blue's but ...
if I can just get the bulbs for the xenon,s will they fit in the housings?

thanks

wow this is an old post. I just picked up a set of Xenons (non projector) to go to my 05 MCS. The plugs are the exact same. When I went to start the car up both of the xenons started strobing/flickering. I turned the engine off then turned the key back to the on position fired the xenons and they came on without a hitch. As soon as I turned the engine on they began strobing again. Does anyone know what the heck it going on? If so PLEASE HELP!!!

I don't know if this will help at all, but, unplug you battery for about 15 minutes and then plug it back in again. This resets your ECU. We are having a little discussion in this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...s-diaries.html

to try and figure out how vehicles with halogens can move to the HID's without issue.

The above method may not work, we just want to see if it does, if you don't mind being the guinea pig!

Also, I am sure you do have them, but just in case, are the ballasts attached to your headlights? Small silver box on the bottom?

Chase,
Yeah the ballasts are attached. The xenons will actually turn on correctly as long as the engine isn't running as soon as I start the engine the headlights start flickering. I tried doing the ECU reset through the system menu but to no avail. The lights stayed on a little longer than they normally do but after about 20 seconds started to strobe.

Same issue I have...'06 Xenons into an '06 GP. Strobetastic. I have done some research and believe that the dealer has to "tell" the car it has Xenons.

Its a matter of a dealer ECU flash... Your MINI dealer may or may not have a clue what the hell your talking about - it'll take trial and error. I know several people who've gotten this solved, but they never really knew what the dealer did. All they know is that it was cheap, and required no parts. If anyone figures this out, please get the dealer to tell you what was done.

Not sure why the heavens chose for this to work for me but I successfully got the 05 Xenons to work with my 03 halogen.. Just plugging in..and off I go.
