A New MINI Owner in Maryland

Hello, all.

On Friday, my wife and I placed our deposit on a made-to-order 2016 MINI Cooper Hatchback 4 Door. This will be our first MINI and we're very much looking forward to having some fun and getting good gas mileage (far better than our Forester) in style.

I plan on incorporating the Maryland flag somewhere. I may do the simple by ordering white side mirror caps and having them custom painted. Another option is to get a custom vinyl decal for the roof of the Maryland flag. The most expensive would probably be to have the flag painted directly onto the roof. Whichever we choose, I'm hoping for a very unique MINI that turns heads wherever I drive.

Also, two questions:

1. How do I bribe the people on the assembly line to take pictures every step of the way and email them to me?

2. How do I avoid going stir-crazy until that sweet, sweet day when I slide into the seat, turn on the engine, and listen to her purr.

Congrats

I would do your graphic in vinyl that way if you change your idea, or end up selling it will be easier to remove.

Welcome to NAM and congratulations! As for the roof decal, try contacting www.MightyStripes.com and see what they can do as far as doing a custom decal for you. Look on their FAQ page for contact information. Hopefully you and your wife don't have to wait too long until you get delivery of your new MINI.

For current generation MINI hatchback owners, what fuel do you use?

The owner's manual says that 91 octane is preferred, but 89 is okay without performance suffering. I'll go 91, but that's really going to cut into the savings I was hoping to get thanks to the MINI's much better gas mileage than my Forester.

Welcome and congrats. Stay tune to our site for MINI events that would make for a fun little road trip to Philly.

Welcome , nice options. Love the red.

" Maryland flag somewhere " lots of MINI owners have done state flags on the roof like the Genuine MINI UJ flags.

Wow, that is exactly the same color and option combo of the loaner car I wrecked about two weeks ago. It was a fantastic little car till I smacked it into a stopped cargo van. My prior loaner 4dr I had had the other seat style, and I would get leg cramps in about an hour. If you are wondering, I was amazed how well the car stood up to basically running it into a wall at 40 mph. Only thing that is still baffling me and my dealers techs, is why the airbags never deployed.

Lovely car, I wish you well with it and think the state flag would look awesome on it. I might even suggest some small accent/s in the same yellow as the flag, maybe mirror caps or something. Maybe something like the yellow/black slanted checkered past of the flag as a stripe or something. I'm not far from you (northern VA) and I have a good friend who has a vinyl shop and does really good work, just shoot me a PM and I will hook you up with him.

Hey, thanks, I appreciate that. I was actually thinking about doing the yellow caps on the wheels as a bit of pop.

Still trying to decide between flag roof or flag mirrors...

Today has been the first dry day since we got our MINI, so I figured even with the grey skies, it was time for a drive.

A little late but welcome to NAM and the world of Mini. I am looking to get a US or MD flag for my sunroof as well, and planned on stopping by Mealey Signs in Annapolis to see if they can do this. I can at least get you a ball park price. Would you want perforated (my plan) or solid vinyl?

johannah- so I did a Maryland flag as my headliner and it's pretty freakin sick. I've been considering doing a Vinyl MD flag sticker on the roof too but idk yet
