From a Miata to a Mini......

Great forum and happy to be here. New to Mini and enjoying my "new to me Mini". I like having a run around car so I don't drive the Durango so much. Sold my 93 Miata LE ( 31,000 miles) and eventually found a 2012 "justa" for fun. Obviously the non aspirated Mini feels pretty peppy after the Miata. Under warranty for another year and a half with 29,000 miles, it's red with a black roof, sunroof, Satellite, 6 speed and heated seats........I am a happy camper.

Hello and welcome. There are quite a few of us here on the forum. My two previous cars before my present '13 Justa were a FR-S and a Miata.

Thanks all.....this looks like an expensive place to visit as the Mini has so many mod options. And yes, red is fast--kyoo, I think the 93 LE had 116 hp, but was lighter. I think because my car is chili red, and has a very nicely spaced 6 speed it gets the edge. Feels like more than 121 hp. I never knew these were so nice at speed on the interstate either.

Had a 94 M Edition Miata for 8 years before my Mini. Loved the Miata, but the sciatica wasn't happy!

I got bitten by the Mini bug after driving my son's '10 Justa. That got my mental wheels turning and the little woman just gave me the push I needed.

I've put more miles on the Mini in a year than I ever did in 2 years combined with the NA. That little bit of extra room makes a difference, and having the S is a quantum leap in power too!

Enjoy!!!!!

Interesting that some of you came from a Miata. To be honest, my back wasn't happy either. That stiffer suspension in the LE and the hike in and out was a workout for errands. The Mini is just the right height, except for lifted pickup trucks as they cannot see me at all. I think my next Mini will be an S--after reading some of the quarter mile times I was impressed! Fortunately, I hadn't driven one before purchase!

Isn't the suspension in the S model stiffer than the base model?

Yes I think it is. But can't you get the S w/o the "Sport suspension"?

we traded my wifes 2001 miata for her 2011 MCS , she likes the MINI alot more, only thing she misses is rag top , so next MINI will probably be a convertible.

Even though we've enjoyed our Mini's, the 50/50 weight balance of the 3 Miata's we've owned makes it the most fun you can with your pants on... Eyeing the new 2015 Miata.

First Gen Miata… car that started it all! Other than BRG, the black/red interior and 11-lb BBS wheels are extremely hard to find. I've owned 3 myself for over a decade. Great on performance and more importantly its reliability.

Welcome to the MINI family….

Two Miatas here...110k on the '99; over 60k on the '08. F56 (or maybe F55) MINI and new Miata will be dueling it out for the "next" vehicle....may have to get over to Chicago next month to hopefully put eyes on the new MX-5....
