New to us '06 JCW

Hello all!

Last month, my wife and I picked up a 2006 R53 JCW, manual with ~55k miles. We were really just looking for an S with the Chrono package, and didn't know it was a JCW until we got to the dealership. It's DS/B on the 17" MINI Cross Spokes* (thankfully no runflats, Kumho's) with the Chrono and Harmon/Kardon packages. It had the red caliper front brakes, the JCW plaque on the engine, and the JCW exhaust. I think it has the LSD. I can only assume it has the suspension too. Is there a difference between the Sports Suspension, Sports Suspension Plus, and JCW suspension?

*are these wheels true 2pc wheels or faux 2pc?

We're still trying to figure out exactly what we got. I've been trying to learn as much as I can from this site. Am I correct Factory JWC option only started in '06? I know I've read that before that, you could get bits of the JCW package dealer installed. Did they still allow you to do that for the '06 cars? Could you order just the brakes for example?

Is there a sticky on what constitutes the following...
#1 = Premium
#2 = Sport
#3 = Cold Weather Package (Chili Pack)
#4 = Convenience Pack

Sorry for all the questions; I know my Rangers and F-Bodies pretty well, the Mini caught me off gaurd!

Thanks!

Congratulations on the purchase!

To answer some of your questions - the cross spoke wheels (if they're the R90's) are true 2 piece rims.

There is a difference between the 3 suspensions, with the JCW obviously being the best (though dependent on your tastes).

And, as far as I know, 2006 was the first (and only) year of a factory option JCW on an R53

Of course as soon as I posted that, the wife kindly reminded me she ran the VIN on this car before we got it. Looks like I mispoke about the spokes. We have the Web Spoke R98s.

Appears that the PO left it completely stock. On our short list is adding some black vinyl to the horizontal parts of the grill and getting some window tint. Also need to replace the rear JCW badge that was somehow all bent up by the PO, but after discovering they're over $100! that may wait til a birthday or Christmas. Will probably order the rear fog light (maybe the toggles too, even if we don't get it programmed for a while). Contemplating adding some factory black stripes to the hood.

Looks like you got JCW brakes too?
Or maybe painted stock?

Hey L and G
Check the marketplace. I just bought JCW emblem for 45.00. Great pictures by the way. This is my "BUZZ". I think yours would look cool and add attitude with this stripe. Especially with matching roof.
