Please Help!! Didn't get what I ordered.

Hello! I have a question. I ordered a MCS and got the JCW trim package. When I ordered it, it was supposed to have the black steering wheel with red stitching but it came with the standard wheel with paddles. My MA says that MINI must have changed their package but their website states otherwise. Would anyone know, or know of someone who would know, was my MINI supposed to have the red stitched steering wheel or has the package really changed? I called MINIUSA and they could not tell me what was contained in what packages.

Did you order a MCS or an MCSa? There is no JCW available with an automatic so there is no JCW wheel compatible with the paddle shifters. MINI would have defaulted to the standard steering wheel in that case.

You can specify it all you want, you'll never get it. MINI doesn't make a wheel with red stitching that will accommodate the paddles on an automatic car. If they don't make a wheel that's compatible, you're SOL.
Your options now are:
1) Buy your own JCW wheel, install it, and lose the paddles
2) Have your existigin wheel restitched in red
3) Live with it

I wouldn't expect MINI to help make either of the first two options happen.

I know for a fact that the red stitched steering wheel also comes on the automatic because my dealer has 3 sitting on his lot. Second, I didn't order paddles and third I don't appreciate the attitude considering I'm asking for help. Thank you!!

No attitude. I'm simply laying out what I've learned.

The EASy solution would have been to simply have the dealer swap out the wheel from one of the one on their lot and be done with it.

Haha at Quality Sound telling the OP he's "SOL" when he doesn't even understand what he's arguing about.

The OP ordered a MCSa with the "JCW appearance package" and got all of the included items *except* the red-stitched steering wheel. He instead received the regular wheel with paddle shifters, which is INCORRECT. This is not the first time this has happened on these boards and the dealer should correct this.

Don't fear, CP, the dealer should make this right regardless of what the uninformed masses tell you!

I'm curious how your dealer has MCSa with the red stitching. There is no MINI Part/wheel that allows for the paddles. Did they make them custom?

I would have them swap the steering wheel to your liking. Heck my car arrived with All-season runflats and I had them swapped.

I personally own a 2012 MCSa with red stitched JCW steering wheel:

What people aren't understanding is that if you order the JCW Appearance Package, you get the red wheel IN PLACE OF the standard wheel with paddles. Of course there's no JCW wheel with paddles, it's an either/or situation!

The OP ordered the appearance package, as did I, yet he received the standard wheel with paddles, NOT the red JCW wheel which is a build error that the dealer needs to correct. I have an internal memo that my MA gave me regarding specs of the appearance package and it specifically describes in detail the red steering wheel as it applies to both manuals and automatics. (note the lack of red on the gear-selector boot, as per specs)

Thanks Subzero for the reassurance. I went this afternoon to pick up my MCSa and they are going to fix the steering wheel.
