Week 25 2011 Support Group

Here we go. I didn't see a Week 25 thread, so I started this one.

Ours is scheduled for 6/22. That's the day after tomorrow and the second day of summer.

We got a Spice Orange Cooper S, and we threw nearly the whole option book at it. What can I say? No self-restraint.

We're selling the BMW M3 that I bought new in 1998 and the Subaru WRX that my wife bought in 2002, planning to share the Mini for commuting duty. I will really miss the M3. The Subaru, not so much.

Come on over, our group is a little sparse, just me and one other person so far. The production week, as I understand it, is the week they begin building, so if your cars are due to be done on Wednesday (mine is due to finish that day as well), they began being assembled last week.

Hi, Karlos.

My car's build started yesterday, 6/22. But yes, the latest groups are pretty small. I'm reading along with your group.

You're welcome to hang with us, friend. We'll be the last 2011 owners I'm guessing.

Hi guys!!
I don't know what waiting room I belong in. My MA told me that my 2011 CMSAll4 was scheduled to be in production "week of 6/26". I called 'ASK-MINI' Thursday 6/23 and it was "being assembled and readied for production". I have had my VIN# since Thursday also.
Is this the correct thread for me?
I don't know how to tell which 'week' I'm in.

I just checked up on our Mini. It was loaded onto the boat on Wednesday morning, 6/29. The boat is the Wallenius Wilhelmsen line's Guardian Leader. It is supposed to arrive at Port Hueneme on Wednesday, 7/20.

Thanks, Peppermill! I looked for the boat last night and there was no status yet.

Is your car Pepper White by any chance?

hiya kernl,
pepper white?
... what gave it away?
basic cooper, white body and roof, 6spd manual, sport suspension, sport pkg, chromeline interior and exterior.... gonna do a double brg stripe graphic on bonnet & boot and have a set of 16" rota rb wheels already waiting to mount.

got to thinking, since you're in eugene and i'm near tacoma, your baby and mine will prolly get transported north from the distribution center on the same truck.figure they should be pretty good mates by then.

best,
k

True. Mine is actually riding the truck as far as Portland, then we'll drive it back down to Eugene.

Anyone else have their Mini onboard the Guardian Leader?
The last position report that I've seen was made a full week ago, on July 3rd, in the North Atlantic as she passed the Azores. She hasn't been "in range" ever since but imo, she must be very near the Panama Canal by now but yet, I'm starting to get pretty weird while waiting for confirmation of any kind of her current whereabouts.
I guess I should just be patient since I at least know the Guardian Leader's itinerary and besides, it's not like she passed anywhere near Somalia.
Anywhoo....Here's what I got....She's scheduled to stop in Manzanillo on the 12th and finally due at Port Hueneme/Oxnard,CA. late on July 21 with a total of 1051 "BMW's".' Wonder how many of those are Mini's?

Anybody got any other info to share? I need a little handholding.lol

It looks like krnlbob and I are the only one's here with a car on the Guardian Leader. She ported in Manzanillo,PANAMA this morning, a full day ahead of schedule..

Now the listed itinerary makes more sense as I was thinking she was due in tommorrow at the Port of Manzanillo,MEXICO - ie: halfway up the coast on the Pacific side and hadn't yet even reached the Panama Canal.
I didn't realise that there even was a Manzanillo,Panama till now. haha

feelin' dumb (but better versed in my geography),
k

Heck, I didn't even know there was a Port Hueneme before ordering a MINI. On Saturday I met a MINI owner who used to live in Hueneme, and she told me how to pronounce it. (wy-NEE-mee)

Peppermill, what is the MMSI that you used to search this ship? Mine is aboard the Toronto but I can get no information on her voyage.

Thanks HurleyGirly. The Guardian Leader is now on her way directly to Port Hueneme on the Pacific side and expected late on the 21st.

What did you find out about your Mini's whereabouts and itinerary?

I searched for the Toronto on the www.marinetraffic.com site but didn't

locate your vessel. I'm pretty darn sure your baby won't be coming in on this one--

No, that's not my Toronto. Mine is still in the Atlantic, due at Panama on the...
OH NO... They just added a 6 day stay in Canada and instead of arriving at Port Hueneme on 27 July, now it won't be in until 5 August! Ugh.

That's just awful, HurleyG... I really do feel for you, esp. after all the time you've been waiting already. I'd be pulling out big chunks of my hair by now.

...and as for an unscheduled 6 day layover, that's just odd. they'd have had a full cargo load when they departed for the crossing so it's unlikely that they'd be picking up any additional tack-on freight or offloading so much cargo that it would require that length of time. all i can surmise is that they may have had some some sort of mechanical issue at sea and chose to re-route to the nearest/most convenient port for repairs before continuing on to the Canal and Port Huemene.

best of luck to you & hang tough.

sincerely,
k

Yup, I'm pretty grumpy right now. But I do agree that it sounds like mechanical problems for the ship. Maybe it will be fixed sooner than they have scheduled time for. Maybe I should have ordered a 2012 CM...I think they are arriving in September or October.

What's going on with Guardian Leader? If I track my VIN on WW's cargo tracking page, I see that its status is LOADED ON VESSEL. The most recent entries in the status details list are

LINER RELEASE PORT HUENEME, CA 19-07-2011 08:51:07
CUSTOMS RELEASE PORT HUENEME, CA 19-07-2011 00:00:00

Does that mean our car is off the boat and into the VDC? Does it mean the boat reached the port late Monday night? Are the timestamps PDT or UTC?

Peppermill, do you have any clues?

hi krnlbob,
I tracked guardian leader's arrival at port hueneme early this morning( 7/21/11 @ ~5: oo am pacific).
she was docked at the VDC piers for approx 9-10 hours and is currently underway to san diego for the next leg of her voyage.
I would assume that our minis have been offloaded and are currently awaiting customs clearance before inspection/prep at the bmw/mini distribution facility. I would pretty much disregard the WW info as being either based on incomplete data, or were projected estimates, esp considering that guardian leader is a k-line (NYK) vessel.
hang tight. it shouldn't be long now(fingers crossed)

best,
k

hi kernlbob,

our cooper showed up this morning at our dealer as well.
'gonna drop off the rota rb wheels tommorrow for mounting & installation. however, we're still waiting for the custom brg stripe graphics to arrive so it appears that it'll be another week or so before we finally take her home. she looks AWFULLY PLAIN & STARK as she sits right now.
